Golden Knights - Panthers preview, prediction and analysis

On March 7, 2023, the Vegas Golden Knights will travel to the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida to take on the Florida Panthers in what promises to be an exciting NHL matchup. Both teams have had successful seasons thus far, with the Panthers sitting atop the Atlantic Division and the Golden Knights in second place in the Pacific Division.

The Golden Knights are coming off a 4-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens, their third straight and recording points for the 11th time in 12 games. Jonathan Quick made 25 saves for his first win in his first start as Vegas' goalie, after the team acquired the former rival goalie. Ivan Barbashev scored twice.

The Golden Knights also have a strong defense, anchored by Shea Theodore and Alex Pietrangelo. Theodore has been a revelation this season, with 53 points in 63 games, while Pietrangelo has brought a veteran presence and leadership to the team.

The Florida Panthers, meanwhile, have been one of the biggest surprises of the season. They have been led by the stellar play of their stars Matthew Tkachuk and Sasha Barkov. Barkov and Huberdeau have been two of the best players in the NHL this season.

In net, the Panthers have relied on Sergei Bobrovsky and Spencer Knight.

Special teams will be crucial in this game, as both teams have been effective on the power play. The Golden Knights have the league's fifth-ranked power play, while the Panthers have the league's sixth-ranked power play. The penalty kill will also be important, as the Golden Knights have been successful at killing off penalties, while the Panthers have struggled on the penalty kill.

Overall, this game promises to be a closely contested matchup between two talented teams. The Golden Knights will be looking to gain ground on the first-place Edmonton Oilers in the Pacific Division, while the Panthers will be looking to maintain their lead in the Atlantic Division. Fans can expect an intense and exciting game of hockey as both teams battle for a crucial two points.
