Southern Miss Golden Eagles Analysis

USM is coming into this game with a 1-4 record overall and they are 1-1 in their home games this regular season where they will be in this game. This will be their 2nd conference matchup on their schedule and they are already behind with a 0-1 record in their conference games this season. UTEP vs Southern Miss Prediction

USM looked a lot better in their last game than they have all season but that still does not mean that they looked good. The only game they were able to do anything in was in a game against a team from the FCS. In their 4 games against FBS opponents this year, they have not scored more than 20 points in any of those games and they have also allowed their opponent to score over 20 points in every single one. UTEP has not really played any better quality opponents than USM though, but they are still 4-1 on the year and that alone lets them feel good about themselves coming into this game so they are going to have a lot more confidence than USM. USM is the slight favorite here by 1 point, likely because they are at home, but UTEP has the better record and the confidence on their side and will likely upset in this game. The best bet to place in this game is on UTEP to win on the moneyline.

Players to Watch

UTEP Miners: Jacob Cowing is one player to watch in this game. He leads his team in receiving yards and in touchdowns scored. He is coming off of a big game where he had over 100 yards receiving. He will be looking to carry that momentum over into this important conference game so look for him to make some big catches and find the end zone here.

Southern Miss Golden Eagles: Jason Brownlee is one player to watch here. He leads his team in receiving yards this season. He gained most of those in their last game as he had over 100 yards receiving in that one. They will need him to make some big catches in this game to win so look for him to get a lot of balls thrown his way here.
