Utah State vs Washington Prediction

The current betting odds have Washington listed as a 26.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Washington has a 1-0 record overall this season and they didn't look great in that season opening win. They beat Washington State 24-10 and it took them a long time to get going in that one, but they did come away with the win in the end. The offense didn't look great and needed some time to get going, but the defense looked great and really kept Wazzu's offense at bay. It wasn't the best game from Washington, but it wasn't the easiest game to start the season with either. Washington State isn't a great team, but they are still a former power 4 school and it was a rivalry game in the 1st game of the year. They still got tested in that win and now they are going to face a terrible team from the group of 6 who lost to a team from the FCS in week 1. Meanwhile, Utah State has a 0-1 record overall this season and they lost at home to Idaho State 29-17. Idaho State is definitely not a bad team from the FCS, but Utah State still has a talent advantage and it is also the 1st year of Utah State joining the Pac-12, so they want to make a good first impression and their season is already off to a disaster start. This team has been heading in the wrong direction under Mendenhall the last 2 seasons and now they are playing their 1st road game against a team with a lot more talent. Utah State had trouble against Idaho State's defense at home in week 1 and now they are facing a Washington defense that looked really good last week. Washington already got tested in week 1 too, so they will likely use this game to tune up their offense while Utah State's offense continues to have trouble. The best way to place a bet here is on Washington to cover the spread in this game.

Utah State Washington Prediction:  Our NCAAF Pick for Saturday, September 12, 2026 (3:30 pm ET start time) is Washington 42 Utah State 3.

Notable Quotes

“We didn’t execute well. We weren’t consistent, not only in the playmaking but also with penalties. Basically, the team wasn’t prepared well enough to win.” - Bronco Mendenhall after his team’s loss against Idaho State in their last game.

“We’ve got to run the ball a lot better than we’re running the ball, we’ve got to hit passes that we’re not hitting. We’ve got to continue to play great defense, but we’ve got to score some points. It’s embarrassing right now.” - Jedd Fisch after his team’s win against WSU in their last game.
