They won against the UConn Huskies in their last game at home 31-20 in Week 0. Logan Bonner started that game at QB and he completed 20/29 passes for 281 yards and 3 TDs. Calvin Tyler Jr. led the team in rushing with 161 yards on 33 rushing attempts while Brian Cobbs led the team in receiving with 78 yards and 1 touchdown on 7 receptions. Ajani Carter led the defense in that game with 7 solo tackles and no assisted tackles. Ike Larsen and Hunter Reynolds each had 1 interception in that one while no one on the defense recorded a sack.

 

 

 

Alabama is playing their season opener here on Saturday and this will also be their first home game on the college football schedule this season. They made it to the final four last season, beating the Cincinnati Bearcats 27-6 in the Cotton Bowl, but they went on to lose the National Championship 33-18 against the Georgia Bulldogs. Their offense was averaging 488.3 YPG and 39.9 PPG while their defense was allowing 302 YPG and 20.1 PPG against them. Bryce Young led the team in passing with 4,872 passing yards, Brian Robinson Jr. led the team in rushing with 1,343 rushing yards, and Jameson Williams led the team in receiving with 1,572 receiving yards.

USU had the luxury of playing last week already while Alabama has not played their first game yet, but it was a good opportunity for USU to test things out and prepare for this game. USU did not play that great as they barely beat a very bad UConn team by 11 points, even trailing by 14 to start that game, but there is no doubt with a bad team like that in their first game of the season they were not taking them seriously and had 1 eye looking ahead to this game against one of the best in the nation. Alabama had another great season last year as they always do but they ended up losing in the national championship and will be looking to get back there again this year. They are a much better team than USU and they have a much better program as well with a lot more talent, but this is a game USU will bring their best effort for and they are not going to give up at all against the best in the country. Alabama also has a very bad record over the years when it comes to covering spreads over 40 points, and they were a team last season that actually focused more on playing good defense than blowing teams out with their offense. USU will play a lot better in this game and they may still get blown out here but, it will not be by more than 40 points. The best way to place a bet here is on USU to cover the spread in this game.
