Utah Jazz Analysis

The Jazz are coming into this game with a 39-23 record overall and they are 17-13 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. They have won 3 of their last 4 games but are coming into this one off of a loss in their last game which snapped a 3 game winning streak that they were on. Their 3 wins in that span were against the Dallas Mavericks, the Phoenix Suns, and the Houston Rockets while their loss came against the New Orleans Pelicans in their last game. They still have a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night that needs to be played first so this will be the 2nd leg of a back-to-back for them on Monday night. In their game against the Pelicans, Donovan Mitchell led the team in points in that game with 14 while Hassan Whiteside off the bench was next on the team with 13 points. Jordan Clarkson led the team in assists in that game with 4 while Whiteside led the team in rebounds with 12. They were 34.8% from the field, 26.8% from 3-point range, and 65.4% from the free throw line with their shots in that game. Their offense is averaging 113.7 PPG and their defense is averaging their opponents to average 107.6 PPG against them. The Jazz have an ATS record of 27-34-1 this season and their O/U record is 30-31-1.

Dallas Mavericks Analysis

The Mavericks are coming into this game with a 39-25 record overall and they are 22-11 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. They have won 6 of their last 7 games and are coming into this one on a 4 game winning streak. Their last loss was against the Utah Jazz while their 6 wins in that span came against the Miami Heat, the New Orleans Pelicans, the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Warriors again, and the Sacramento Kings in their last game. Spencer Dinwiddie led the team in points in that game with 36 while Jalen Brunson was next on the team with 23 points. Dinwiddie led the team in assists in that game with 7 while Josh Green off the bench led the team in rebounds with 12. They were 47.6% from the field, 38.9% from 3-point range, and 74.1% from the free throw line with their shooting in that game. Their offense is averaging 107.1 PPG and their defense is averaging their opponents to average 103.7 PPG against them. The Mavericks have an ATS record of 36-27-1 this season and their O/U record is 23-39-2.

Jazz vs Mavericks Prediction

The Jazz are coming into this game off of a very bad loss in their last game. They had been playing very well up until that game as they had won 3 straight games but that streak was snapped by the Pelicans as they beat the Jazz by over 30 points in their last game. That was a bad loss for the Jazz because not only are they one of the best teams in the NBA getting blown out by over 30 points to a team that may not even make the playoffs, but all of their starters were playing in that game as well. They just had a very bad game but they will be hungry for a win here. The Mavericks have been playing very well recently winning 4 straight games and 6 of their last 7 but they have been beating up on a lot of injured teams in that span. The Mavericks are also banged up themselves as they have been missing Doncic for a few games but have still been playing great. They are going to feel the absence of Doncic in this game though as the Jazz have most of their starters for this game and they are going to be upset about the way they lost in their last game. The Jazz will win this game by around 10 points and bounce back here.

Notable Quotes

"They played at a high level. Out of 82, there are going to be nights like this. That doesn't necessarily mean we can't look at a game and do some things better. … It's us being able to understand we need to pass the ball four or five times – move it and move it again. I thought we held it." - Quin Snyder on his team’s loss against the Pelicans on Friday night.

"We want Luka playing, and it took us some time to get used to him not being on the floor. I thought the guys got their legs and got their rhythm without Luka out there. It helps us – makes us a better team – but hopefully Luka's back Monday." - Jason Kidd on his team’s win against the Kings on Saturday night.
