An Eastern Conference NBA matchup that matters!  The Raptors are just a few seasons removed from winning the NBA Championship.  They then got spurned by their star player and are almost back to wonderful after a quick rebuild.  The 76ers are at the top of the mountain after the process.  They have two of the league’s ten best players in SG James Harden and C Joel Embiid.  The “process” can go no further.  From this point on either the Sixers become Champions or they fall apart.  The Eastern Conference itself is loaded at the top with the Heat, Bucks, Celtics, Cavs and Bulls joining these two as all having somewhat of a chance of making big waves in the Playoffs and the Conference Finals… There is one other team in the East however.  The lousy #8 Nets are a bad team…. But they are another gear away from being entirely different… They could end up spoiling the party for all these East teams if Kyrie, Durant, and Simmons ever got the chance to actually play together.  That does not worry the Raptors who have young players all the time in the world… It should worry the heck out of the 76ers who themselves are a knee injury from either star away from total destruction. This year could be the 76ers only shot.

The Toronto Raptors have won  6 of their last 10 games. They went 5-5 ATS during that stretch.  Sadly the Raptors dropped their last game to the abysmal, self-destructing Los Angeles Lakers 128-123 in over time.  Raptors rookie Scottie Barnes had 31 Pts in that game… further announcing himself as the new star of Toronto and a future all-star many times over.  PF Pascal Siakim, PG Fred Van Vleet, and SG Gary Trent Jr all pitched in… but they could not overcome 36 from LeBron james and 22 from Russell Westbrook.  At the end of the game, the real story was 3-point shooting percentage where the Raptors only had 32% to the lakers 44%. This further illustrates the Raptors problem this season.  They are playing Scottie Barnes at the SF when his game screams for them to give him a real shot at point guard.  The problem with that is PG Fred Van Vleet is really good.  It’s a recipe for trouble that needs immediate attention this offseason… does this team need to move Fred Van Vleet?... The city loves Fred Van Vleet (even if he did go 2-9 from 3 in an overtime loss with a -5 point differential on his usage).

The Philadelphia 76ers are on a collision course to a big playoffs!  They will either show how the new pairing of SG James Harden and MVP candidate C Joel Embiid is perfect…. Or they will crash and burn and the Philly boos will find a level they have not before seen… and they have seen some really amazing levels of Philly boos!  Philly has won 7 of their last ten games while going 4-5-1 ATS. Their last win was the last game.  They beat Dallas 111-101 which was also a win ATS.  Dallas’s Luka Doncic had a very off game with only 17 points and a -15 point differential versus his usage while C Joel Embiid lit up the paint with 32 points and 8 rebounds.  Joel Embid is in a battle for the scoring title with LeBron James of the Lakers and for the MVPp trophy against Denver’s Nikola Jokic and Memphis’s Ja Morant.  However, Joel no longer has to do everything himself as he did when Ben Simmons was lurking around the team.  Sg James Harden had 24 points and 12 assists.  The rest of the starting rotation for Philly G Tyrese Maxey, SF Matisse Thybulle, and PF Tobias Harris are regularly contributing and seemingly taking turn providing key plays that secure wins.  This is a tough team.  Any team that faces them while lacking a quality center gets eaten alive!
