Blue Jays: 44-36, 2nd place AL West
Athletics: 26-55, 5th place AL West

Both these teams are coming off of losses in their last outings.  The July 4th game has been covered (bet the Blue Jays) and is yet to play.  That will be the first game of the series. The Blue Jays are extremely happy to run into the A’s at this point of the summer. The New York Yankees are so far ahead of the Blue Jays (and everyone else) it is laughable.  The Jays' only need is to stack wins… that is what the A’s will provide them. The A’s on the other hand will provide something around 3000 fans in their home stadium.  A number so small there won’t be enough people to mount a quality “boo”.

The Toronto Blue Jays are a quality American League East team.  The numbers show yet again (like last season) a potent offense that needs more pitching.  The Blue Jays can hit the ball and score some runs.  The idea that they missed the boat on signing a load of quality starting pitchers last offseason has left them looking up at the runaway Yankees from 11-12 games back… and they are in 2nd PLACE!!  Still they have everything any team needs to beat the pitiful A’s 9 out of ten times.  Don't avoid this betting line because of the small return. The Jays will win and give you a small return.  The Blue jays have only won 4 of their last 10 games… which is why the A’s are such a welcome sight across the diamond.

The Oakland Athletics are garbage.  It doesn’t start with the players… the ownership group of the team simply does not want to be in Oakland… nor do they ever spend money on big time players.  The A’s are a joke.  The running question is when will they wind up in Las Vegas? For the MLB moving the A’s from Oakland to Las Vegas would be a travesty… It would ruin two markets forever at the same time.  They have won just 3 of their last 10 games… for the A’s winning 3 of 10 is actually a good ten game stretch.  They went 1-2 against the Seattle Mariners, 0-3 against the New York Yankees, 2-1 against the Kansas City Royals and 0-1 against the Seattle Mariners.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Oakland Athletics Prediction

Our prediction for Tuesday July 5th is… Blue Jays 7 - A’s 1

Bet on the Blue Jays… Again.  Take the smaller return again.  Keep betting the Blue Jays no matter what.  The numbers say that if these teams play 100 times the A’s would be lucky to get a dozen wins.

Players to Watch

Blue Jays: LHP Yusei Kikuchi, 3-4, 4.74 ERA, 74 strikeouts in 62 innings pitched.  1.52 WHIP.  The 31 year old Yusei is part of the problem in Toronto.  A team with such a good offense should not be trotting below average pitchers out to start.  Still he is throwing against the A’s so Toronto is reasonably safe.

Athletics: RHP, Adrian Martinez, 6.30 ERA, 6 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.  1.30 WHIP.  The A’s will yet again burn another guy who does not belong on an MLB mound.  He has only pitched 10 career innings and has a 6.30 ERA.  Try not to laugh.  That is the A’s fault and not this kid.

Managers

Blue Jays: Charlie “I look like this all the time” Montoyo
Athletics: Mark “It’s a paying gig” Kotsay
