Texas Longhorns Analysis

Texas is coming into this game with a 4-4 record overall and they are 1-2 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. This will be their 6th conference matchup of the year and they are pretty much out of the running with a 2-3 record in their conference games this season. They are coming into this game on a 3 game losing streak after another loss in their last game. They lost that game to Baylor 31-24 in a game that they had a lead in for most of the time and blew it late in the fourth quarter to lose the game. Casey Thompson played alright in that game but he also struggled at times as he completed 23/38 passes for 280 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Bijan Robinson led the team in rushing with 43 yards and 1 touchdown on 17 carries but they did not really have much of a run game in that one. Xavier Worthy had a nice day as he led the receivers with 115 yards and 1 touchdown on 4 receptions while Marcus Washington led the team in receptions with 7 for 70 yards. Joshua Moore caught the other touchdown pass in that game for them. Ovie Oghoufo and Luke Brockermeyer both led the defense in that game with 4 solo tackles and 1 assisted one each. No one on the defense recorded a sack in that game but Brockermeyer and B.J. Foster both came away with 1 interception each for them in that one. They have scored 315 points in their 8 games this season averaging 39.4 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to sco4re 238 points against them allowing 29.8 PPG. Their offense is averaging 447.5 YPG while their defense is allowing 434.3 YPG.

Iowa State Cyclones Analysis

ISU is coming into this game with a 5-3 record overall and they are 3-1 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. This will be the 6th conference matchup on their schedule this year and they are in an alright position but not the best one with a 3-2 record in their conference games this season. They have won 3 of their last 4 games and are coming into this one off of a loss in their last game which snapped a 3 game winning streak that they were on. They lost their last game 38-31 to WVU in a game that was back and forth the entire first half going into halftime tied and they even led in the third quarter but then blew the lead in the fourth quarter and went on to lose that game. Brock Purdy played alright in that game as he completed 16/27 passes for 185 yards and 1 touchdown. Breece Hall had a very nice day on the ground as he led the team in rushing with 167 yards and 1 touchdown on 24 carries while Purdy also ran 1 TD in himself. Tarique Milton led the receivers with 68 yards and 1 touchdown on 1 reception while Xavier Hutchinson had 51 yards on 6 receptions. Datrone Young led the defense in that game with 6 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones while Kym-Mani King was right behind him with 6 solo tackles. No one on the defense recorded any sacks in that game but Jake Hummel and Craig McDonald both came away with 1 interception each in that one. They have scored 257 points in their 8 games this season averaging 32.1 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 157 points against them allowing 19.6 PPG. Their offense is averaging 428.3 YPG while their defense is allowing 291.9 YPG.

Texas vs Iowa State Prediction

Texas is coming into this game as a 6.5 point underdog with the current betting odds according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Texas is on a losing streak right now and they have not been finishing their games well. They are staying competitive in these games and even getting leads but blowing them late in the game. They will be hungry and desperate for a win in this game to snap out of the slump they are in and after blowing a lead to Baylor late in their last game, they should come much better prepared for that in this game. ISU is a good team but their offense is not the greatest and they are not going to pull away by a lot against a team like Texas. The best bet to place in this game is on Texas to cover the spread here as this will be a much closer game.
