Titans - Bills preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
Titans: lost 21-20 vs. Giants
Bills: won 31-10 at Rams

Cue the Music City Miracle highlights and all of that. Even though if you did that in the city of Buffalo you’d probably get run out of the building. As someone who went to Buffalo in recent memory, find me a more passionate fanbase clinging to hope that a team can win a championship.

The Buffalo Bills have never been in a more desired position to win a title than they have this year, and this might be the year the loveable losers finally get it done. If the win over the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1 is any indication, we’re possibly looking at that to be the case.

Right now, it doesn’t look like there’s a team that can stand to the Bills, and the Tennessee Titans might be in purgatory with the possibility of getting destroyed by Josh Allen through the air. And that might be the case considering the Titans are coming off a horrendous loss to the New York Giants last week.

With the NFL being such a week-to-week league, sure we’re playing the overreaction game with the Bills. But you add Von Miller to the No. 1 defense in the league and you surely see why the Bills are such an amazing selection to win it all. The Bills picked off Matthew Stafford three times, Miller had two sacks, and it was a dominant second half for the Bills.

Allen was tremendous despite two interceptions, throwing for 297 yards and three touchdowns in just five incompletions. Stefon Diggs tore up the entire world with 122 yards and a touchdown, and given Tennessee’s uncertainty on defense, this is likely going to be another instance where Allen has a big game.

The last time the Titans played the Bills, it also was a Monday Night Football game, but the Titans won a thriller despite Allen torching that defense. Just no one was able to stop Derrick Henry or Ryan Tannehill. That seems more likely this time around.

"You remember things from every season that carry with you, highs and lows," Bills coach Sean McDermott said. "But we're really focused on this game this week."

"They've given us problems for the last couple of years, and we all know what happened last week," Allen said. "They're going to be a motivated team coming into our stadium."

The Titans actually got good production from Tannehill, who threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns while he’s on borrowed time before Malik Willis makes his presence felt. Henry had just 82 yards, a rather off performance from him against the Giants’ run defense, and Kyle Phillips led the way with six catches for 66 yards in his NFL debut.

But Henry will have a tougher test against Miller and the stout Buffalo defense. Tennessee’s only chance to win in Buffalo is to generate the running game on the road, but that doesn’t seem likely at all.

"I'm living my running back dreams through him," Miller joked, before rejecting the idea of pretending to be Henry on Buffalo's scout team in practice. "It would be fun. But I let those guys do that."

Prediction

I’m going with the Bills and it wouldn’t surprise me to see them get on a crazy run to start the year. It’s the time where Allen becomes the MVP and this team becomes THE legit Super Bowl contender. Chris Berman has been waiting for this moment. It’s time. Bills by 13
