Temple is playing their season opener here on Friday and this will also be their first road game of the college football season. They finished last season with a 3-9 record overall and were 1-5 in their road games. They were also 1-7 in their conference games and finished 11th place in the AAC. They did not end their season with a Bowl appearance as their record was not good enough to become Bowl eligible. Their offense was averaging 286.9 YPG and 16.3 PPG while their defense was allowing 401.1 YPG and 37.5 PPG against them. D'Wan Mathis led the team in passing with 1,223 passing yards, Edward Saydee led the team in rushing with 321 rushing yards, and Randle Jones led the team in receiving with 476 receiving yards.

There is a lot of change going on in these two programs, not only with the coaching staff but, a lot of the players on each team from last season are not returning for this year either. Temple does have their starting QB and leading rusher from last season returning though, and they should show some more improvement this season playing another year together as they already have that chemistry. Duke on the other hand, is coming into the season with a new coach, new QB, and a lot of new players just in general on both this offense and defense.
