Buccaneers vs Vikings Prediction

The current betting odds have the Buccaneers listed as a 6 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Bucs won the division last season but finished with a losing 8-9 record overall and that was with Tom Brady still running the show. Now Brady has retired and they have picked up QB Baker Mayfield to replace him. Brady really took charge of this offense over the last few years but last season was a different story as it was clear that he didn't have much left in the tank and a new starting QB with all of those weapons still there will be good for this Tampa Bay offense. The Vikings had a really good year last season with their 13-4 record overall but they fizzled out in the playoffs as they usually do and now the offense is left with less talent than they had last year. They lost their running back Dalvin Cook and they also lost some pieces in their receiving corps. Their offense is going to struggle a lot more this season with a much weaker run game and this was a team that led the league in games decided by 1 score last year with more talent around. Now the team has gotten weaker around Kirk Cousins and the Bucs still have a really good defense led by Todd Bowles that is going to give the Vikings offense fits here. The Bucs are not expected to do much this season but they still have a lot of talent around a new QB who will be playing with a chip on his shoulder as he has something to prove to the league and the desire to win games will be there for this Bucs team like Brady never left. The best way to place a bet here is on the Buccaneers to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“Hopefully that continues through the season. We know they didn’t have their first guys out there, but it was good to see them get going and getting on the right guy and having some continuity from that standpoint and we can build on it. Any time something is not working the year before, you try to fix it and get it better. Last night was a positive sign.” - Todd Bowles on his team’s running game coming into this new NFL season.

“I think we got one of the better safety rooms in the National Football League and that’s our starters, that’s these guys that have really made out the versatility for Flo (Brian Flores) to play three, four safeties in a grouping and we’ve got Lew (Lewis Cine), and we’ve got (Josh) Metellus to go along with (Camryn) Bynum and Harry (Harrison Smith) and Theo Jackson and Jay Ward probably, if you were ranking training camps that guys have had, those two guys would be on the top tier of some of those rankings because of the production.” - Kevin O’Connell on his team’s safeties coming into the season.
