Stanford Cardinal Analysis
Stanford is coming into this game with a 3-2 record overall and they are 2-0 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. This will be their 4th conference matchup of the year and they are sitting in a good spot right now with a 2-1 record in their conference games this season. Their 2 losses came against the Kansas State Wildcats and the UCLA Bruins while their 3 wins came against the USC Trojans, the Vanderbilt Commodores and against Oregon in their last game winning that one in OT. Tanner McKee played a great game in that one as he completed 20/36 passes for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns. Nathaniel Peat led the team in rushing with 78 yards on 15 carries but other than him, there was not much of a run game in that one. Elijah Higgins led the team in receiving with 62 yards and 1 touchdown on 6 receptions while John Humphreys was right behind him with 53 yards and 1 TD on 4 receptions. Brycen Tremayne also caught 3 passes for 1 TD and 48 receiving yards in what was overall, a pretty quiet day for the receiving corps as no one player really stood out and carried the team. Nicolas Toomer led the defense with 7 solo tackles and 3 assisted ones while Jacob Mangum-Farrar was right behind him with 6 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones. Levani Damuni led the defense in sacks with 1 while Ricky Miezan and Gabe Reid both combined for 1 sack in that game. It was Gabe Reid though who came away with the only interception in that one. They have scored 145 points in their first 5 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 134 points against them. Their offense is averaging 348.8 YPG while their defense is allowing 406.2 YPG.
Arizona State Sun Devils Analysis
ASU is coming into this game with a 4-1 record overall and they are 3-0 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. This will be their 3rd conference matchup on their schedule and they are already off to a great start this season with their 2-0 record in conference games. Their 1 loss came against the BYU Cougars while their 4 wins came against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, the UNLV Rebels, the Colorado Buffaloes, and against UCLA in their last game. Jayden Daniels played a solid game in their last one as he completed 13/19 passes for 286 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rachaad White led the team in rushing with 69 yards and 2 touchdowns while DeaMonte Trayanum was right behind him with 67 rushing yards and 1 TD. Ricky Pearsall had a great day as he led the team in receiving with 132 yards and 2 touchdowns on 4 receptions. He was the only player that stood out in that game from the receiving corps. DeAndre Pierce led the defense with 7 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones while Jack Jones was right behind him with 7 solo tackles and 1 assisted one. Anthonie Cooper led the defense in sacks with 2 while Stanley Lambert and B.J. Green II both had 1 sack each in that game. No one on the defense came away with an interception in that one though. They have scored 172 points in their first 5 games and they have allowed their opponents to score 87 points against them. Their offense is averaging 350.2 YPG while their defense is allowing 198 YPG.
Stanford vs Arizona State Prediction
Stanford has turned out to be a very good team this year as they knocked off the number 3 Oregon in their last game. They have stayed really competitive in all of their games with their 1 bad loss in the conference coming to UCLA by 11 points. ASU has also been playing well in their last few games and their defense has been great this year not allowing a lot of yards or points in their games. With this being such an important conference game, both teams will come to play their hardest here. Stanford already has 1 loss in the conference so they will not want to lose another game while ASU will be trying to preserve their undefeated record in the conference, especially with Oregon getting knocked off. This should be a close game where their defenses take over. The best bet to make here is on Stanford to cover this spread as no one will likely be blowing out either side in this game.

Players to Watch
Stanford Cardinal: Tanner McKee is one player to watch here. He leads his team in passing yards as he is the quarterback and the leader of this offense. He led them to a comeback in their last game against Oregon who was ranked number 3 at the time, and completed the comeback getting the win in OT. He will be a crucial piece to this offense if they are to pull off another upset here so watch for him to make the big plays in this game.
Arizona State Sun Devils: Ricky Pearsall is one player to watch in this game. He leads his team in receiving yards this season. He is coming off of a game where he had 132 receiving yards and he will be looking to make another big impact in this important conference game. Look for him to make some big catches down the field and in the end zone to help his team win here.
"The key word is resilience. It's the mark of a successful team, it's the mark of a successful person. How can you withstand the storms that life gives you? ... Our guys took it on the chin quite a bit but we fought back and made some big plays." - David Shaw on his team’s performance in their win over Oregon.
"I thought we kept them off balance a little bit with the run and the pass, and there were a few things that we thought we could attack them with. And, again, sometimes you don't hit those and it changes the game. We were able to hit some of those, and I give credit to the guys." - ASU offensive coordinator Zak Hill after their upset win over UCLA on the road.
