This will be their 4th conference matchup of the year and they are not off to a good start with a 1-2 record in their conference games this season. Their 2 losses came against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns and the Texas State Bobcats in OT while their 1 win came in a blowout against GA Southern in their last game. They took the lead from the start in that game and never gave it back, winning that game comfortably by almost 30 points and snapping a 2 game losing streak in the process. Bryan Hill led the team in rushing with 65 yards on 8 carries while Terrion Avery led the team in carries with 10 for 43 yards. Their running game was not that strong in that game but they did not really need it either. Jalen Tolbert had a massive day as he led the receivers with 174 yards and 1 touchdown on 11 receptions while Jalen Wayne also had a great day with 117 yards and 1 touchdown on 7 receptions. Jay'juan Townsend also had 62 receiving yards on 1 reception in what was overall, a great day for the receiving corps. Keith Gallmon led the defense with 5 solo tackles while Jamall Hickbottom was right behind him with 4 solo tackles and 1 assisted one. Hickbottom along with CJ Rias and Terry Perry all led the defense in sacks with 1 each in that game. Rias came away with the only interception for the defense in that game. They have scored 171 points in their first 6 games averaging 28.5 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 114 points against them allowing 19 PPG. Their offense is averaging 389.5 YPG while their defense is allowing 298.2 YPG.
Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks Analysis
ULM is coming into this game with a 3-3 record overall and they are 3-1 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. This will be the 4th conference matchup on their schedule this year and they are already in a bit of a hole with a 1-2 record in their conference games this season. Their 2 losses came against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Georgia State Panthers while their 1 win came against the Troy Trojans. They won their last game against Liberty on a last second field goal to break the tie in that game and that snapped a 2 game losing streak that they were on. Chandler Rogers played alright in that game but had his moments where he struggled as he completed 16/25 passes for 225 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Andrew Henry led his team in rushing yards in that game with 80 yards and 1 touchdown on 15 carries but they did not have a very strong running game in that one. Zachari Jackson led the receivers with 47 yards on 4 receptions while Jevin Frett had 37 yards on 1 catch. Overall, it was a very quiet day for the receiving corps. Zach Woodard led the defense in that game with 4 solo tackles and 6 assisted ones. He also led the defense in sacks with 1.5 in that game while Sir'Darrius Ellis and Ja'Cquez Williams both had 1 each. Josh Newton, Tre Odom, and Mark Williams all came away with 1 interception each in that game as well. They have scored 109 points in their first 6 games averaging 18.2 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 210 points against them allowing 35 PPG. Their offense is averaging 259.2 YPG while their defense is allowing 457 YPG.
South Alabama vs Louisiana-Monroe Prediction
South Alabama is coming into this one as a 13.5 point favorite with the current betting odds according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Both of these teams have just snapped their 2 game losing streaks with a win in their last games. The stats are very lopsided in this game though. USA is averaging more points and yards per game than they are allowing this season while ULM is the complete opposite, allowing more yards and points than they are scoring. ULM also allows 35 points per game and will be up against a USA offense that is scoring almost 30 points per game. ULM has lost their last 2 conference games that they have played while USA is coming off of a massive win over a bad GA Southern team. ULM may be just as bad as GA Southern this year so the best bet to place in this game is on South Alabama to cover the spread here.
South Alabama Louisiana-Monroe Prediction: Our NCAAF Pick for Saturday, October 23, 2021 (7:00 pm ET start time) is USA 42 ULM 20.

Players to Watch
South Alabama Jaguars: Jalen Tolbert is one player to watch in this contest. He leads his team in receiving yards this season. He is coming off of a massive game where he had almost 175 yards receiving. They will need him to keep that up in this game to get a conference win here so look for him to have another big game as he is one of their biggest playmakers.
Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks: Andrew Henry is one player to watch here. He leads his team in rushing yards and in touchdowns scored this season. He is coming off of a game where he led his team in rushing yards as well. He is one of their biggest weapons on the team so look for them to get the ball in his hands a lot here as he looks to have a big game and find the end zone.
"We kept fighting and playing. It was a win with a lot of heroes for our football team." - Terry Bowden after their upset win against Liberty in their last game.
“We’re in a good spot right now, but I always believe we can be better. We can always play faster and execute the game plan better. We still had a couple of missed tackles last week that we want to fix. But execution-wise, I believe we are capable of being a great defense and can continue to be one of the best defenses in the country.” - Keith Gallmon on the South Alabama defense.
