San Jose State vs USC Prediction

The current betting odds have San Jose State listed as a 30.5 point underdog in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. USC was a very good team last season under their new head coach Lincoln Riley and they are only going to improve as a team this season but offense has mainly been their focus as they did score a lot of points in their games last year. Their defense really suffered though as they did give up a ton of points too and San Jose State has made a lot of improvements in the transfer portal for this season. As good as USC is, defense will continue to be an issue for them since Riley doesn't focus on it's importance and that will always leave the door open for a backdoor cover against them by some of these teams and will even leave the door open for teams to go toe-to-toe with them all game. San Jose State doesn't have too long of a trip for this game either and they will be able to put up points on this defense even if they give up a lot themselves and it will just be too much for this USC team to cover. The best way to place a bet here is on San Jose State to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“I’ve never seen a college football player like Caleb Williams. That’s just my own opinion … I’m 27 years in, I think, and I’ve never seen anybody like him. He is just brilliant in every way. And then you add that with just the normal high level talent at USC, and then what they’ve been able to add through NIL money, right? And so I think you’re looking at a kind of football team that maybe we’ve never seen before in college football.” - Brent Brennan on Caleb Williams before playing against USC in their 1st game of the college football season.

“Listen, we got a great opportunity in front of us. I think everybody within our program, every player, senses that and wants to do a great job of taking advantage of this. These windows are short. You only get so many shots at this.” - Lincoln Riley on the upcoming season for his team.
