This has been a weird season to this point as we get through the second month of baseball season. The last 30 days, we've seen Jim Feist rack up plenty of good wins going 48-42-4 over the last 30 days. It's been an unpredictable season so far, but our champion handicappers have been doing well all season. Get on board and join the ride. Giants - Marlins preview and analysis

Not the ideal way for the San Francisco Giants and Miami Marlins to enter this series against each other, but it has to be done, apparently.

The Giants are coming in off a series win over the Philadelphia Phillies but lost the finale 6-5 in Philadelphia on Wednesday. San Francisco brought in five runs on only five hits, somehow, and brought us in an eventful sixth inning. All runs came in.

"I don't think his slider had as much bite on it," Giants manager Gabe Kapler said of reliever Jarlin Garcia, who was responsible for letting the game get away in the bottom half of the frame. "Today was a hiccup."

The Giants haven’t had as good of a season as I think most would expect, but they are five games above .500 and are 14-11 on the road. Normally that’d be a fine record to have, but that would imply the Giants to have a dominant home record rather than the 13-11 mark the Giants have at this moment.

But if you want to think of it that way, the Marlins are coming off a rough time on the road, losing two of three over the weekend to the Colorado Rockies, including splitting a doubleheader on Wednesday. How weird was this doubleheader? Try winning 14-1 in the first game, and then losing 13-12 in 10 innings on a walkoff homer from Brendan Rodgers to cap off a three-homer game in the nightcap.

The Marlins’ hot start has instantly cooled, and with the way the New York Mets are riding around with the lead in the NL East, there doesn’t seem to be a way to think the Marlins are going to come back and make things difficult on the division leaders.

Prediction

I like the Marlins to get back on track on their home field. I think that’s a group that’s in need for a couple of victories, and perhaps this is a sign — back on home field — where the Marlins can bounce back. Top winning pitcher Sandy Alcantara is available for this and should get the win. Marlins win 7-5
