A lot of stories available on the internet from SB Nation, Kings local press, and Pistons fan boys are saying that the Pistons have zeroed in on Sacramento power forward Marvin Bagley III as a likely trade target.  Apparently the brain trust for a near last place team in the East thinks that getting a player who can’t crack the rotation for a near last place team in the West will help their rebuilding process?... Stranger things have happened I guess.  Marvin Bagley III is a former 2nd pick in the first round of the draft.  He was taken 1 pick BEFORE Luka Doncic and may not have reacted well to the fans at home games booing him and wearing homemade Doncic Kings Jersey’s when Marvin didn’t work out immediately.  Whatever it is Marvin hardly plays for the Kings and the Kings should look to move him…. But insiders think Marvin will be attached in any trade with Buddy Hield (Kings' talented shooting guard) going out.  Before anything happens these teams matchup Monday Night.

Kings vs Pistons Preview and Analysis.

RECENT FORM
The Kings are 5-8 on the season while going 6-7 ATS.  They have logged 4 Overs, 8 Unders, and 1 Push.  They are 3-4 in road games.  The Pistons come along at just the right time to get them to .500 on the road.   They are on a 4-game losing streak at the moment, losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the San Antonio Spurs, the Phoenix Suns, and the Indiana Pacers.  The streak has sent them tumbling down the Western conference standings.  The first 2 weeks of the season they were looking like an NBA playoff team, but now they are on pace to finish where every Kings team has finished for two decades… near the bottom but not last.  If things go according to curse they will end up taking an undersized two guard with the 5th or sixth pick in this year’s draft.

The Pistons are 3-9 on the season while going 5-7 ATS.  They have notched 5 Overs, 6 Unders, and 1 Push.  They are a doormat of a home team with a 1-4 record in Little Caesars Arena.  The Pistons are on an uptick however with wins in three of their last 4 games.  They beat the Brooklyn Nets, the Houston Rockets, and the Toronto Raptors with a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers wedged in the middle.  The turn around coincides with rookie Cade Cunnigham returning to the team after starting the season with a nagging injury and he plays very well with surprise star Jerami Grant who was the offseason signing.  Why would they mess with building chemistry by adding a draft bust Power Forward through trade when all signs point to getting him on the cheap when he is a restricted free agent?... I dunno.

Offensive Analysis

The Kings are 5th in points scored in the NBA and 14th in FG%.  They don’t have any problem scoring.  They are a young, athletic group.  Heck they are 7th in free throws attempted and 5th in free throws made… they are losing because they play defense like my kid sister, they don’t.  Someone should ask the coach before the next NBA game if he is doing anything to address that… then someone should ask the GM if they are doing anything to address needing a coach who can preach defense.

The Pistons are 30th in the NBA in scoring… yup last place.  It shouldn’t be a surprise that they are also 30th in FG%. They are an even younger team than the Kings.  The guy expected to be their star (Cade Cunningham) is a true teenage rookie.  They are also playing Cade out of position as the Shooting Guard … that’s not a great spot in today’s NBA to put a below-average shooter from 3-point range.  If they can’t give Cade the starting point guard spot then he should come off the bench.  In today’s game teams need a collection of shooters in the 2 guard spot or they won’t win many contests throughout the NBA season.

Coaches
Kings: Luke Walton.  Luke is the son of an NBA Hall of Famer.  He is also a former 2x NBA Champion player with the Los Angeles Lakers,  a former head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, and a former assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors when they had that great run with the first edition of Steph, Klay, and Draymond before KD ruined it all.  He makes 6 million dollars a year.  He is living a true Forrest Gump life where he finds himself in the right place at the right time over and over again.  He has been the coach of the Kings since 2019 and his career head coaching record is terrible.

Pistons: Dwayne Casey.  Coach Casey is known for having built the Toronto Raptors into contenders and being let go just as they were about to win the NBA Finals.  He will likewise build this edition of the Pistons into a playoff team in the coming years before he is shown the door.
