Michigan Wolverines:  won at home on Sep. 18 against the Northern Illinois Huskies 63-10.

 

 

 

Rutgers is coming into this game with a 3-0 record and is 1-0 on the road where they will be in this game. This will be the first of their conference games after playing 3 non-conference games in a row against Temple, Syracuse, and Delaware. They beat Delaware in their last game and their quarterback Noah Vedral played a great game in that one. He completed 21/25 passes for 323 yards and 2 touchdowns. Their run game was not that strong in that one as Isaih Pacheco led the team in rushing with 69 yards and 2 touchdowns on 13 carries. The receiving corps did have a nice day though as Bo Melton led the way with 121 receiving yards and 1 touchdown on 5 receptions. Brandon Sanders also had a good day with 84 receiving yards and 1 touchdown on 3 receptions. Avery Young led the defense with 5 solo tackles and 2 assisted ones. Multiple players on the defense got to the quarterback in that game as Julius Turner led them all with 2 sacks on the day. Aaron Lewis also had 1.5 sacks but no one on the defense came away with an interception. They have scored 123 points in their first 3 games and have allowed their opponents to score 34 points against them. Their offense is averaging 351 YPG while their defense is allowing 259.7 YPG.

 

 

Michigan is coming into this college football game with a 3-0 record overall and a 3-0 record in their home games where they will be for this one. This will be the first of their conference games for the season, their biggest win so far coming against Washington in a blowout. The rest of their games will all be conference matchups as they have Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern, Michigan State, Indiana, Penn State, Maryland, and OSU up next on their schedule. They are coming off of a big win against NIU last week winning by over 50 points. Cade McNamara played well in that completing 8/11 passes for 191 yards and 1 touchdown. The run game had a very nice day as Blake Corum led the team in rushing with 125 yards and 3 TDs on 13 carries. Donovan Edwards also had 86 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground on 8 carries. Cornelius Johnson had a big day for the receiving corps with 117 receiving yards and 1 touchdown on 3 receptions. Vincent Gray led the defense with 4 solo tackles and 1 assisted one.  No one on the defense had a sack in that game and Gemon Green came away with the only interception for his team in that one. They have scored 141 points in their first 3 games and have allowed their opponents to score 34 points against them. Their offense is averaging 514.7 YPG while their defense is allowing 287 YPG.

This will likely be a very low scoring game. Rutgers has not looked like a bad team this season so they are not going to get completely blown away here. Michigan has a very good defense and is barely allowing any points scored against them and not a lot of yardage either. They will be looking to make a case for themselves in the college football playoff now that the Ohio State Buckeyes have fallen flat on their face to begin the year. They also love to run the ball and will want to keep running especially if they get a big lead here. This game is going to stay under the total, that is the best bet to make here.
