Rutgers is playing their season opener here on Saturday and this will also be their first road game of the college football season. They finished last season with a 5-8 record overall and were 3-3 in their road games. They were also 2-7 in their conference games and finished 6th place in the Big Ten East. They ended their season with a 38-10 loss against Wake Forest in the Gator Bowl. Their offense was averaging 310.8 YPG and 19.7 PPG while their defense was allowing 398.1 YPG and 25.6 PPG against them. Noah Vedral led the team in passing with 1,854 passing yards, Isaih Pacheco led the team in rushing with 647 rushing yards, and Bo Melton led the team in receiving with 618 receiving yards. 

 

 

 

BC is playing their season opener here on Saturday and this will also be their first home game on the college football schedule this season. They finished last season with a 6-6 record overall and were 3-3 in their home games. They were also 2-6 with their conference record and finished in 7th place in the ACC Atlantic. They did not end their season off with a Bowl game as they did become eligible for the Military Bowl against East Carolina but a covid-19 outbreak led the game to get canceled. Their offense was averaging 351.7 YPG and 24.7 PPG while their defense was allowing 343.9 YPG and 22.2 PPG against them. Dennis Grosel led the team in passing with 1,216 passing yards, Pat Garwo III led the team in rushing with 1,045 rushing yards, and Zay Flowers led the team in receiving with 746 receiving yards. 

The current betting odds have BC listed as a 7.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Rutgers is entering their 3rd year with Greg Schiano as coach now and things have been improving greatly for the program in the short time he has been there. Their offense will not be the same as last season though and it will take some time for them to gel again with all of the new faces. Their QB has returned for another year but both their leading rusher and leading receiver from last season are no longer with the team, and this BC team has made some big upgrades from last year. BC has Phil Jurkovec back at QB starting again and their offense last season was much better under him before he went out with an injury. He also has leading rusher and leading receiver from last season returning for another year so this offense already has chemistry with each other from last year and they will be eager to jump out to an early start to the season. Rutgers may be improving under Schiano but their offense has still been an issue for them and it will take them longer to get going this year with all the new faces. The best way to place a bet here is on BC to cover the spread in this game.
