Padres: 89-73, 2nd place NL West

Game two of the NLCS.  A best of seven series with the first two being played in San Diego, Games 3, 4, and 5* (if needed*) in Philly, and Games 6* and 7* (if needed*) to finish out in San Diego.  The old 2-3-2 format!  So many twists and turns if all goes well.  The Great Betting Opportunities of each game will come down to pitching…. But with these clubs there will always be a feeling for who has the HOT bats and the momentum!

The Philadelphia Phillies came out of Game 1 with a win.  A 2-0 victory on only 3 hits.  More importantly they held San Diego to only 1 hit and 0 runs in 9 innings. Phillies ACE Zach Wheeler was dominant as he threw a 7 inning shutout.  Phillies stars Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber each blasted solo home runs to account for all the scoring in the game.  Phillies reliever Jose Alvarado spent a few tense moments in the ninth inning with two runners on base… but was able to get the last few outs to call it a night.  The Phillies stole Game 1.

The San Diego Padres had the very unexpected position of home field advantage in the NLCS
Since the Dodgers, Mets, and Braves have all been knocked out.  That left The Padres as the best regular season record left standing.  In Game 1 they lost that home field advantage and possibly all the momentum and positive feelings the Dodgers series had given them.  The Padres simply failed to get any scoring going whatsoever.  Going zilch for the game.  They also used up Yu Darvish for the next couple of days with nothing to show for it.

Philadelphia Phillies vs San Diego Padres Prediction

Our prediction for Wednesday, October 19th is…   Padres 5 - Phillies 2

Bet on the Padres.  They will have all the motivation to get Game 2 at home and they will need to because they will have to go to Philly for the next 3 games (if that many are needed).  This is the last stand if they want to make it back to Petco Park and see the inside of a World Series.
