Eagles - Giants preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
Eagles: won 35-10 vs. Titans
Giants: tied 20-20 vs. Commanders

Eagles analysis

I might be in the minority here, but I don’t believe in the Philadelphia Eagles. Sure, any team that’s 11-1 should be given all the benefit of the doubt. But as you read this, look through that schedule and tell me that the Eagles are legit. Because I don’t see it. The 35-10 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday is probably their most impressive win of the season, and it seemed expected because AJ Brown’s revenge game was in full effect. In his first game against his former team, Brown reminded the Titans what they were missing with eight receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Jalen Hurts finished the day with 380 yards and three touchdowns.

"We'll leave all the MVP stuff to who votes for all that," Brown said of his quarterback. "But he's doing a great job leading this team. He's a great leader. He's still climbing. He wants the team to be great."

I put the Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings in the same category. Of course I think the Eagles are better, but they haven’t beaten anyone worthwhile for me to step back and think they are legit Super Bowl contenders. Sometimes, the record is a little bit of a mirage and you need more proof. That’s where I’m at with the Eagles, because if they slip up one more time before playing the Dallas Cowboys on Christmas Eve with the NFC East lead on the line, it might not be the same outcome from last time.

Giants analysis

We knew it was a matter of time for the New York Giants to show they didn’t belong. Now they’re tying must-win games? And game that they should’ve won? They dominated the Washington Commanders for the better part of three quarters and when it came time to win in overtime, they couldn’t do anything. A 20-20 tie is the perfect cap to what has been a disappointing last three games for the Giants. So much so that it’s knocked them out of contention in the NFC East with the Eagles and Cowboys pulling away. Daniel Jones was pedestrian once again with 200 yards and a touchdown on 25 of 31 passing. Someone has to tell this man to start throwing deep.

"It's not a loss, it's not a win either," said Jones. “I think you understand that part of it but just disappointed that we could've played better, could've taken advantage of some situations and won the game. That's the disappointing part."

Other than Saquon Barkley, the Giants don’t have anybody on offense that poses a threat. Sometimes that can be good, but you need a serviceable quarterback who will do more than just throw 2-yard passes and hope his receivers do the rest.

Prediction

It’s your lucky day, Philadelphia. The Eagles keep on winning. Eagles by 14
