Eagles - Colts preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
Eagles: lost 32-21 vs. Commanders
Colts: won 25-20 at Raiders

The Philadelphia Eagles have lost a game and Jeff Saturday is an undefeated interim head coach for the Indianapolis Colts. This was about as weird a week as you could have in football with these two teams being at the forefront of tomfoolery. And now they will play in Indianapolis on Sunday with the potential of some more wacky shenanigans taking place.

The 1972 Miami Dolphins were popping champagne once again on Monday when the Eagles lost for the first time this year, 32-21 on Monday night to the Washington Commanders. The Washington defense made life difficult on Jalen Hurts in what was his first loss of the year, as well. Hurts went 17 of 26 for 175 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, while he ran for 28 yards and one touchdown on six total carries.

"We started 8-0 together, we lost this game together, we're going to move on together," Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said.

Spoken like a true head coach. I’m still not sure which side of the football gets credit for that 8-0 start, but it was a cupcake 8-0 start. The only game that should be in consideration is the Vikings game in Week 2, but even then no one predicted Minnesota was going to be this good. The only other questionable game was Dallas on Oct. 16 without Dak Prescott and the Eagles nearly let them back in the game.

This has been as easy of a schedule as can be for the Eagles to this point, and it gets a little bit tougher in the second half with Green Bay, Dallas and the New York Giants twice. So, buckle up Eagles fans. This doesn’t seem over, not by a long shot.

Especially when the greatest coach of all time is your next opponent and has the Colts thinking some kind of way. Last week was the greatest day in Indianapolis history besides winning the Super Bowl. The Colts, with a legendary franchise figure in his first NFL game coaching, beat the Las Vegas Raiders 25-20 in Allegiant Stadium last week. The Raiders’ discussion will continue later in the week as we continue to throw tomatoes at them.

The Colts won 25-20 in Saturday’s first game with the Colts in which everything went right. Matt Ryan looked like Matt Ryan again, Jonathan Taylor (147 yards, 1 TD) also looked like himself again, and the Colts did the thing. There’s nothing more left to say. They made it happen and looked good doing it. And Jeff Saturday is, in fact, the greatest coach of all time.

"Jeff, he's the thing that drives this thing," Colts owner Jim Irsay said. "That's the reason in bringing him in. I knew he had those abilities to come in and be a great leader and take over right away, because of all the help he had around him, and because he knew to delegate. He, obviously, is thrilled with the victory, but in this league you're on your next battle."

"In truth, I felt very at peace," Saturday said. "I felt like we had a very good plan in place. I felt like all the men who I had talked about empowering and giving them the ability to do what they could do exceptionally well, they all stepped up.”

Prediction

I want to wish the Colts go on a long journey and eventually win the AFC South and make everyone eat their words. But this is another easy game for the Eagles, and I can’t see how Indy pulls this off two weeks in a row. Imagine if they did though. Eagles by 14
