Eagles vs Lions Prediction

The current betting odds have the Eagles listed as a 4 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. The Eagles just had a great season where they made in to the Wild Card Round but they will be looking to build on that season with an even better one this year. Jalen Hurts was very good last year but he has been improving even more in the offseason and the team has helped him out by going out to get WR A.J. Brown from the Titans as well, who is a very good and talented WR that will give Hurts more options when throwing the ball. They also have a very good run game as Hurts is a dual-threat but they also have a backfield by committee with a few solid RBs in there. The Lions had a terrible season last year but they were also putting it all together still with a brand new head coach and a new QB in Jared Goff as well. The Lions should be a lot better this season in the 2nd year with everyone playing together in the system but Goff did not look great in a lot of games last year and they still may not be ready for the 1st game of the season. The Eagles are a much better team all around and they will be competing with the Cowboys all season for the division so they need to get off to a hot start. The Lions front office knows that this is still not a playoff ready team and this year will likely still be a rebuilding year for them as they try to put everything they have been doing together now. The best way to place a bet here is on the Eagles to cover the spread here.

Notable Quotes

“A lot of different things. I think he’s seeing the field really well. I think he’s building that memory bank of plays versus different coverages, and knowing where to go with the football from there. So, I just think his decision making process is just continuing to get better — which is common among quarterbacks that are on it, and that are getting better. So, I just think his decision making is happening fast, it’s happening quickly, and he just keeps getting better at that.” - Nick Sirianni on Jalen Hurts improving this year.

“I feel like he has been trending in the right direction now for two weeks. So, I would say he finished up strong and he’s going in the right direction.” - Dan Campbell on Jeff Okudah winning the starting job.
