Season Record

Eagles: 3-6 NFC East
Broncos: 5-4 AFC West

Is this a battle of Jalen Hurts vs Teddy Bridgewater?  Or just a matchup of two teams who are still looking for a starting quarterback?  Philly can’t think they have found their QB and the Broncos didn’t bring in Teddy to be the starter.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Denver Broncos Preview and Analysis

Recent Form
The Eagles are 3-6 on the season and 4-5 ATS.  They have logged 5 Overs and 4 Unders.  It’s a good thing they are on the road because they are winless ATS at home.

The Broncos are 5-4 on the season and 5-4 ATS.  They have logged 2 Overs and 7 Unders.  They are 2-2 ATS at home.

The public will be betting on the Broncos and the small point spread makes that an easy choice. The Broncos are riding high off their upset win over the Dallas Cowboys last weekend.

Offensive Analysis

The Eagles are 17th in the NFL on offense.  They get 346.1 yards per game and score 25.2 points per game.  They just don’t win.  They are passing for 209.6 passing yards and 136.6 rushing yards per game.

The Broncos are 18th in the NFl on offense (see how close).  They are getting 345.9 yards per game and scoring 20.8 points per game.  The offense is nearly a push… we have to look at the defensive numbers.

Defensive Analysis

The Eagles are giving up 355.3 ypg and allowing 24.2 points per game.  They are ranked 15th.  They are the definition of NFL average yet they have a losing record.

The Broncos are ranked 6th in the NFl on defense.  They are giving up 321.8 ypg and allowing a mere 17 ppg.  ( That’s where the win is found for Denver in this one, the defense is pretty, pretty, pretty good)

NFL Betting Trends

The Eagles are 3-8 ATS in non-conference games the last 3 seasons.
The Eagles are 1-4 in riad games where the total is set between 42.5 and 45 pts over the last 3 seasons.
The Broncos are 1-4 ATS after 2 or more consecutive wins over the last 3 seasons.
The Broncos are 11-9 ATS in home games over the last 3 seasons.

Both teams are struggling ATS over the last 3 seasons… The Eagles are the perfect opponent for Denver to move in an upward trend.  The spread is good at 2.5 and iffy at 3.

Key Injuries

Eagles: WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside (ankle) Quest ** CB Darius Slay (hamstring) Quest
Broncos: OL Graham Glasgow (ankle) Out indefinitely ** TE Albert Okwuegbunam (knee) Quest ** T Bobby Massie (ankle) Quest

Players to Watch

Eagles: Javon Hargrave.  He has a team high 6 sacks and will be the Eagles best chance to get Teddy Bridgewater out of his current groove.

Broncos: RB Javonte Williams.  Melvin Gordon is the Broncos lead rusher but in games that 2nd man up Javonte Williams gets going the Broncos tend to run over their opponents.

Starting Lineups

Eagles: QB Jalen Hurts, RB Jordan Howard, WR DeVonta Smith, WR Quez Jenkins, WR Jalen Reagor, TE Dallas Goedert (really he should be on the Dallas Cowboys, the world makes no sense), LT Jordan Mailata, LG Landon Dickerson, C Jason Kelce, RG Jack Driscoll, RT Lane Johnson

Broncos: QB Teddy Bridgewater, RB Melvin Gordon III, WR Courtland Sutton, WR Jerry Jeudy, WR Tim Patrick, TE Noah Fant, FB Andrew Beck, LT Garrett Bolles, LG Dalton Risner, C Lloyd Cushenberry III, RG Netane Muti, RT Bobby Massie

Statistical Leaders

Eagles
Passing Yards: Jalen Hurts 1,981
Rushing Yards: Jalen Hurts 494
Receiving Yards: DeVonta Smith 537
Tackles: Alex Singleton 83
Interceptions: Darius Slay 2

Broncos
Passing Yards: Teddy Bridgewater 2,163
Rushing Yards: Melvin Gordon III 477
Receiving Yards: Courtland Sutton 588
Tackles: Kareem Jackson 59
Interceptions: Justin Simmons 3

Coaches:
Eagles: Nick Sirianni. “He’s taken great command of the team..”  said Lane Johnson.  Now if he could just find a way to translate that to a few wins.  Which btw may not be the point of this season.  They may just dip into the draft and find a first round QB when this season is done.  They can also hold onto Jalen Hurts as that kid develops.  Either way Nick Sirianni will be overseeing a building process.

Broncos: Vic Fangio. A former defensive coordinator.  He got hired in 2019 and has a very talented roster.  He doesn’t yet have a franchise quarterback… maybe they sign one this offseason.  Either way this roster will need a better record soon or Nick will be a defensive coordinator again somewhere soon.

Weather Forecast

Partly Cloudy.  62* wind at 7 mph.  It’s an oddly warm fall in Denver… just wait a few weeks it’s gonna get real cold and snowy.
