NBA Standings

76ers: 51-31 4th place Eastern Conference; 3-0 first round Playoff series.
Raptors: 48-34, 5th place Eastern Conference; 0-3 first round Playoff Series.

An NBA first round Eastern Conference Playoff matchup that is largely one-sided.  The 76ers are 3-0 in the series and 3-0 ATS.  They even covered in Overtime!  The Raptors are on the precipice of elimination and they are a bad betting opportunity.  The Raptors have two big problems  1) SF Scottie Barnes is out with injury and 2) They do not have a true Center anywhere on the roster… These two obstacles nearly handed the 76ers the win game after game.  If I were to check the credit card receipts of Raptors’ PG Fred VanVleet and PF Pascal Siakim… I bet (betting is how I make a living) that there is a deposit or two set down on vacation rentals. The game after going 0-3 in the Playoffs is very very very rarely a reverse of course.  Often in a sweep the final game is the biggest whimper.  The 76ers did something brilliant in this series… when they found out that they would not have SF Matisse Haliburton in Toronto because of his vaccination status… they simply stopped using him.  They barely used him at home… The result is that the 76ers did not miss him when he was forced out of Game 3 (the first in Toronto) because he could not even enter the country.  The Sixers will win the series… the numbers over 75 years of NBA history say so… also the eye-ball test says so.  The only question we have at this moment is will the Raptors be able to either steal a game at home… or cover a 3 point spread while still losing… I think the answer is no… Let’s see if the numbers agree?

The Philadelphia 76ers are 3-0 in the first round NBA Playoff series AND 3-0 ATS. They have played exactly as expected with more of a polished super-star starting five. Their last win was a 104-101 overtime victory.  C Joel Embiid had 33 points while PG Tyrese Maxey and SG James Harden had 19 pts apiece… don’t think we aren’t noticing Harden’s consistent double digit assist totals… he had 10 assists.  The 76ers stuck to just 8 guys in the rotation.  Shrinking the rotation is a Playoff mainstay… but that severely may start running them ragged. The telling numbers here are team totals of 51% FG%, 42% 3-point, and 75% FT.  That is a team that will win most of the time.  That is also a team that did not need to use Korkmaz, Deandre Jordan, or Paul Milsap… three capable vets that are waiting in the wings.

The Toronto Raptors are 0-3 in the series and 0-3 ATS.  They had a good season didn’t they? I mean, they discovered a couple of great things… Scottie Barnes is clearly their future.  Scottie will be a star.  Also they desperately need a Center.  In the last loss SF OG Anunoby, SG Fred VanVleet, and PF Precious Anchiuwa all had over 20 points… PG Fred VanVleet and PF Pascal Siakim put up the dud games with only 12 points each… but that is 94 points from 5 GUYS!  Why didn’t they win?... Oh, ' cause the team has very little else… especially with Scottie Barnes in street clothes! PF Khem Birch, PF Precious Anchiuwa, and PF Chris Boucher all take turns being overwhelmed at the Center position.  The team need to pick one guy to be Pascal Siakim’s back-up and then this offseason and draft they need to bring in TWO actual, real 7-foot Centers to bang in the East.

Philadelphia 76ers vs Toronto Raptors Game Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, April 23rd is…..76ers 118 - Raptors 100

The Raptors will wilt at home in their last playoff game. It’s sad, but it’s true.  The Sixers have had this series won ever since they went 2-0 at home. The Raptors gave the Sixers their best punch in Game 3… and it only brought them to the satisfaction of an overtime win.  Now is the time for the emotions to deflate and the off-season to begin.  And we get a sweep of 4-0 Sixers ATS… I will personally have $800 on it.
