76ers vs Thunder Preview and Analysis.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are hot garbage… and that is by design.  They lost KD and had to move off of Russ so they decided it was best to bottom out while accumulating assets and picks.  Part of bottoming out is becoming and embracing hot garbage.  They aren’t just going to get off to a slow start, they are going to try to streak to last place.  For entertainment purposes they will be free bets for a little while… then the team’s money line and the point spread will erase the potential return.  For now, be happy you can make a little return in the next few straight outings.  Call your betting services and go straight up for them to lose.  The Thunder lost their first two games Wednesday to the Utah Jazz 107-86 and Friday at Chesapeake Energy Arena to the Houston Rockets 124-91.  They didn’t cover in either game.  They went Under in both.

The Philadelphia 76ers beat the New Orleans Pelicans to open the season 117-97 and then lost to the Brooklyn Nets 114-109 in a stunning 4th quarter collapse 114-109.  They can’t get back Friday, but they can beat the Thunder easily. Embiid is day- to- Day because of lingering something or other but even if he doesn’t play OKC won’t have a shot.

Offensive Analysis

The Thunder are 28th in the NBA in points scored. And 27th in 3-pointers made.  The thing is they are also lousy at defense as well.  They are predicted to finish among the bottom four in the league and have great lottery chances (what they want) among expert NBA picks.

The 76ers are 14th in points scored on the season… 12th in field goals made, 2nd in 3 point shooting percentage (Ben Simmons sitting out is already paying dividends!) and 11th in free throw percentage.  They need another star but will be alright until it is all resolved.

Philadelphia 76ers vs OKC Thunder Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday, October 24th is… 76ers 125 - OKC 101

Sixers and Over.  The Sixers are trying to get the taste of the Nets dismantling them in the fourth quarter in Game 2 out of their mouths… and they are trying to leave Ben Simmons talk in the rearview… the only way to do that is to win and win big.

NCAAF Betting Trends

The Thunder are 18-2 ATS in Sunday Games the last 3 seasons.
The Sixers are 37-32 ATS when playing a team with a losing record the last 3 seasons.

Injury Report:
Oklahoma City Thunder:  Nothing reported.

Philadelphia 76ers: PG Shake Milton (ankle) Quest ** SG Ben Simmons {{Suspension/mental health difficulty/ holdout/ concussion/ free throw accuracy/ all defense no offense/ wants to be in mi/ coach’s decision/ won’t play in game today/ missing the kind of money that could fund an orphanage for decades/ IR/ 4th straight game/ wants to play in Tennessee with Derrick Henry (me too!)/ doesn’t want to play with the Minnesota Timberwolves (me too!)/ went missing during a playoff game/ I hope he feels better and gets that cell-phone out of his a-- pocket. }} ** SG Grant Roller (knee) out indefinitely.

Starting Lineups

76ers: PG Tyrese Maxey, SG Seth Curry, SF Danny Green, PF Tobias Harris, C Joel Embiid

Thunder:  PG Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, SG Luguentz Dort, SF Josh Giddey, PF Darius Bazley, C Isaiah Roby

Statistical Leaders

Points: Tobias Harris 21.5
Rebounds: Andre Drummond 13.5
Assists: Joel Embiid
Steals: Matisse Thybulle 2.5
Blocks:  Joel Embiid 2.5

Sixers:  Doc Rivers.  Doc has been in the league for years and years… as a player and a coach.  He is NBA royalty with an NBA playing son and his daughter married Seth Curry making Doc a retired NBA player, a current NBA coach, the father of an NBA player, the InLaw of an NBA player, and part of Steph Curry’s extended family.  He has forgotten more basketball than you and I together will ever know…. In light of all that, isn't it time we stop hitting him with Ben Simmons questions?  Ben will be out of the league in a few years and Doc will be connected forever.

Thunder: Mark Daigneault is a 36 year old rookie NBA head coach.  He started his awe inspiring illustrious career in coaching waaaay back in 2007 as an assistant coach at Holy Cross… He didn’t even play basketball; he was a student manager at Uconn under Jim Calhoun while he got his Bachelor's degree from 2003-2007.  Interestingly Sam Cassel had an exemplary 15 year playing career in the NBA followed by an exemplary 11 year assistant coaching career in the NBA… he still isn’t a head coach?  I guess Sam was the wrong (type?) fit for Oklahoma City.
