What an electric start to the NHL season. So much parity, so many good teams through the first 10-plus games, you have every right to be excited! Of course the Vegas Golden Knights and Boston Bruins (and the New Jersey Devils?) are heading the fun charge here as the top two teams in the league, because of course they are. But never count out the Avalanche, you know they're always going to be hanging around and will be eating worlds once they get everyone healthy. But this is a good time to be playing these hockey games, as well. Look no further than our own Doc's Sports on a 14-7-0 run over the first 30 days of the NHL season. There's also ASA, Inc. posting a 12-5-1 mark through the first month. You know you can trust our champion handicappers to get you across the finish line with your NHL bets. Senators - Golden Knights preview, prediction and analysis

Recent results
Senators: lost 5-1 at Sharks last game
Golden Knights: won 5-4 at Canucks last game

The Vegas Golden Knights keep finding ways to win, and if the third period on Monday was any indication of how differently they can win, I don't even know what you can call what happened on Monday. It was probably the weirdest third. You will have seen this year. Then again, it was against the Vancouver Canucks and when you are associating anything with the Canucks it involves a blown lead. Nevertheless, the golden Knights will look to roll into Thanksgiving with the best record in the Western Conference when they host the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday.

I don't wanna get too technical when it comes to the Golden Knights. Because I think anyone who has watched them this year understands that they weren't going to win every game. And I think everyone knew when it came to Vegas trying to avenge itself from last year, that there were going to be hiccups along the way. Much like the case on Monday. Vegas rallied for a 2-1 lead in the second period thanks to goals from Mark Stone and William Carrier To take the lead into the third.

Then things got crazy in the third. Vancouver scores three straight goals in the span of 6 minutes to take a 4-2 lead, in which Vegas responds with three goals of their own, one taken away due to a camera lens somehow hopping onto the ice, but eventually getting the 5-4 victory.

Vegas is extremely talented. We know this, it's no surprise how loaded at the top they are and how deep at the back end they are. Look no further than what Alex Pietrangelo has done to this point. The defenseman has three games in the span of 11 days in which he has recorded three points. Think about this from this standpoint: Pietrangelo in his first two seasons with Vegas never had a 3-point game period now suddenly in his third year under a new coach, he has been tremendous. If not for a man named Erik open Karlsson, I would strongly consider Pietrangelo to be my favorite for the Norris trophy.

Perhaps in due time, he will get the recognition that he deserves and possibly even be a finalist this year if he keeps this up. He's already on pace for a career-best season and the more points he scores in this system will heighten that awareness and heighten just how good he has been this year. And I know there's been some slander over the last couple of years about how people think his defensive game has fallen off and how people think that he's just lost his step, but I would strongly watch these first 20 games and try and tell me that he has lost his step.

If Vegas can hold off an Ottawa team that is considered up and down this year, that will be a major accomplishment. Don't forget that a few weeks ago when Vegas went to Ottawa, the Knights had a 5-1 lead and nearly blew that game to win 5-4. Ottawa has a lot of young talent that is capable of striking at any given point and should anything change in that mindset, they are eventually going to be a very good team. But right now they are going to the growing pains, the only kind of growing pains that the Senators can endure, and they will at least do their best to stay afloat for as long as they can.

Prediction

I don't think this should be a close game. If the home team does with the home team tends to do in these kinds of situations, this game will be over by the second. Vegas is humming along at a good pace, it can use some needed wins and teams like this are a good way to make that happen. Golden Knights win 5-2
