Senators - Canucks preview, prediction and analysis

On March 11, 2023, the Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks will face off at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. This matchup features two teams that are looking to improve their position in the standings and build momentum as the season progresses.

The Senators are a young team that has struggled to find consistency this season. They’re currently four points back of a playoff spot. One bright spot for the Senators has been the play of rookie forward Tim Stutzle, who leads the team in points and has shown a lot of promise for the future. Another player to watch for the Senators is defenseman Thomas Chabot, who is one of the team's top point producers and a key contributor on the power play. It also helps that the addition of Jakob Chychrun has been as stellar as it has so far.

The Canucks, on the other hand, have had a disappointing season so far. They currently sit in sixth place in the Pacific Division and have struggled with injuries and inconsistent play. However, they have a talented roster and will be looking to turn things around in this matchup against the Senators. One player to keep an eye on for the Canucks is center Elias Pettersson, who has been one of their most productive players this season despite missing some time due to injury. Another key player for the Canucks is defenseman Quinn Hughes, who is a dynamic offensive player and one of the team's top point producers.

In terms of special teams, the Canucks have an edge on the power play, where they have been clicking at a 22.4% rate. The Senators' penalty kill has been solid, however, and they will need to continue that trend if they want to come away with a win.

Both teams have struggled with their goaltending this season, and it will be interesting to see which team gets the better performance in this matchup. The Senators have relied on a tandem of Anton Forsberg and Filip Gustavsson, while the Canucks have relied on Thatcher Demko and Jaroslav Halak.

One area that could be a factor in this matchup is faceoffs, where the Canucks have a slight advantage. They are one of the top teams in the league in terms of faceoff win percentage, while the Senators have struggled in that area.

The key to victory for the Senators will be to play a strong defensive game and limit the Canucks' scoring opportunities. They will also need to find a way to generate offense against a Canucks team that has struggled defensively at times this season. For the Canucks, they will need to rely on their talented forwards to generate scoring chances and take advantage of the Senators' goaltending.

Overall, this game between the Senators and Canucks should be an interesting matchup between two teams that are looking to build momentum and climb the standings. With both teams having their strengths and weaknesses, it will be important for each team to play to their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Fans should expect a hard-fought battle between these two teams as they compete for two crucial points in the standings.

You can sense the playoffs in Ottawa. They're going all-in and it's paying off. If they can figure out the goaltending, Ottawa will be the place to be this year. Senators 4, Canucks 2
