We’re quickly approaching the fun time of the year where conference title games are made and upsets are the norm in college football. After minimal change in the top-25 polls this week, what in the world can we expect this time around? One thing you can be sure of is Kyle Hunter and his 22-9-0 mark in college football over the last month. Sean Murphy has also seen a profitable month at 28-15-0 over the last 30 days. Ole Miss - Texas A&M preview, analysis and prediction

Last week
Ole Miss: lost 45-20 at LSU
Texas A&M: lost 30-24 at South Carolina

The Ole Miss Rebels tasted defeat for the first time last week in a 45-20 loss to the LSU Tigers. Once ranked No. 7 in the country, Ole Miss got shellacked in a huge way in Baton Rouge. For a team that’s put up 38 points per game, to be held to 20 when they led 17-3 is absolutely concerning. Quinshon Judkins had 111 yards and two touchdowns, both coming in the first half, and that’s all Ole Miss could do.

Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart threw for 283 yards and an interception, and that’s been about the current theme for what’s been going on with Ole Miss this year. This is a team that’s unable to pass the ball and do it well, which is very weird in a Lane Kiffin-coached offense. Dart has just 11 touchdowns to seven interceptions, with Judkins carrying the load of 831 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. That’s such a weird flex from a Kiffin team, but hey, they’re winning. Good enough, really.

""I said all week they had elite players and it will be difficult to win against these guys," Kiffin said of the Tigers. "We got pushed around. ... They did a really good job and we didn't do a lot right defensively. It obviously wasn't a good feeling at the end."

It’s a one-sided offense from Ole Miss, with Malik Heath catching 8 passes for 145 yards. No one else had 75. I have no idea what to make of this team right now and have no idea how good they can really be with an unknown at quarterback, but at least they’re going to be intriguing. But they absolutely need to figure it out if they want to be players come December and January.

The Texas A&M Aggies are also a team that has no idea what they want to be at this time of year. After starting the year 3-1 with some notable ranked victories, the Aggies have lost three straight, the latest coming against South Carolina in Charleston by the final tune of 30-24.

The Aggies trailed 17-3 at halftime but stormed back to cut it to 3, but just ran out of juice toward the end. Haynes King was horrendous throwing the football, going 17 of 32 for 178 yards, a touchdown and an interception, while the Aggies running game carried it 28 times for just 129 total yards. Devon Achane had 99 of those on 20 carries and a touchdown. You always wonder why teams just don’t run the ball more when they can’t throw it. At least, if I were a coach – which I was in a past life – that’s what I’d do.

"We have good players. We're right there, It's not like we're getting ran out of the stadium," A&M coach Jimbo Fisher said. "We've just got to find a way to make a play or two — all the sudden you will get over the hump. It's just the way it goes."

Prediction

We were at this type of situation last year, right? Texas A&M, late in the year, welcoming an undefeated Alabama team to College Station and beating them. The Aggies are very much capable of winning in this situation, hence why the line is only 1.5. Ole Miss can run the ball and control the clock, which is why I think they can win this game. A&M gives up 180 yards on the ground per game. Don’t expect Dart to win this with his arm. Ole Miss by 14
