Oklahoma State - Texas Tech preview, analysis and prediction

Recent form
Oklahoma State: lost 70-60 at West Virginia on Tuesday
Texas Tech: won 65-62 at No. 1 Baylor on Tuesday

Don’t expect an emotional let-down on Thursday from the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

There’s a euphoric high in Lubbock right now with no end in sight as they host the Oklahoma State Cowboys fresh off one of the biggest wins of the college basketball season.

Texas Tech upset No. 1 Baylor in Waco on Tuesday, 65-62, in a game where we felt the Red Raiders could cover. Outright win? Not sure if we were that ballsy, but we can all agree that the Red Raiders are part of that conglomerate of the Big 12 that is dangerous.

Five players scored in double figures for Texas Tech and were aided in the returns of Kevin McNullar and Bryson Williams after missing their home upset win over Kansas last weekend. Just imagine if the Raiders pulled off the upset in Ames. Imagine that top-25 jump.

You have to appreciate what Texas Tech has done over the past few weeks. From suiting up only seven players against Kansas to coming back on a short week of travel to upset the defending national champions, Mark Adams has kept things about as level after Chris Beard’s departure to Austin more than anyone could’ve expected.

"Just a lot of determination and grit and character,” Adams said. "Very proud of them and blessed to be their coach."

College basketball is a crapshoot when it comes to momentum, but I firmly believe in what Texas Tech is trying to sell. Their team defense is holding opponents to below 60 points per game while the offense has one of the top scoring units in the country at 75 per game.

Going against an Oklahoma State team that’s lost three of four, but just upset the previously mentioned Texas Longhorns over the weekend, also feels like some form of uncertainty for Texas Tech. But I will not be one to downplay the emotion of a charged up home crowd in Lubbock.

Yeah, it may not be the most dominant Texas Tech team we’ve seen to this point, but you start to think ‘team of destiny’ vibes with this group. Taking care of business against an inconsistent Oklahoma State team seems fairly easy. But then again, the past couple of days have been far from easy in the betting world. Texas Tech by 12
