Season Record

Giants: 5-1 NFC East
Jaguars: 2-4 AFC East

An inter conference matchup between the suddenly good Giants… and the suddenly “looks like they might be good” but not yet Jaguars.  Oddly Vegas thinks Jacksonville should be favored.  Maybe they should, because the Giants have dozens of players listed as doubtful, questionable, and OUT for the coming game.  However I can’t point to a single moment where the Jaguars have even pretended to be ready to win… Meanwhile the Giants beat the Ravens, the Packers, and the Bears over their last 3 games.  What is going on in Vegas?

The New York Giants are on a satisfying 3-game winning streak.  All three were wins ATS… They were only favored in 1 game (against the Bears)... In fact these surprising Giants are not just 5-1 on the season, but 5-1 ATS for the season!!  Only 1 Over, 4 Unders and 1 Push… but winning is winning and the Over essentially means nothing. The problem Vegas seems to be having with the 5-1 Giants is their decidedly average to below average numbers across the board except in the stellar running game.  RB Saqoun Barkley is one of those guys listed as banged up and only Probable for the game… That is a lot of Giants offense riding on how he looks the day before in practice.  The NFC just saw Carolina move their star running back to the 49ers… but Saqoun is still the class of the NFC.  The Giants have already surpassed their win total from 2021.. And new Head Coach Brian Daboll simply does not care about where they stand stat wise as long as they keep getting wins.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are on a 3-game winning streak.  For a little bit of the season the talking heads knew… they just knew… That Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was going to do it!  He hasn’t.  The 2-1 start has turned into a 2-4 present.  The Jaguars have GOOD stats (Vegas’s justification) and they play well on both sides of the ball… but for Jeremiah’s sake some wins would be nice! QB Trevor Lawrence has passed for 1397 yards in the first 6 games. A quick look at all the losses would make a Jaguars fan wish Trevor was at 1600 yards… because they always come up short. Jaguars defensive player (is he a LB or a rusher?) Josh Allen has the same name as the Buffalo Bills quarterback… and he leads the team in sacks with 3… and that is as close as I can connect the Jaguars with greatness. I don’t care what their stats are since they were built in the process of losing!

RECENT FORM
NYG 5-1, 5-1 ATS, 1-4-1 O/U, 1-0 on the road,
JAC: 2-4, 2-4 ATS, 4-2 O/U, 101 at home.

Offensive Analysis

The Giants came out of Week 6 19th in scoring with 21.2 points per game, 24th in total yards with 317.3 per game, 31st in passing yards with 154.3 per game, and 4th in rushing yards with 163.  This team goes as far as Saquon Barkley takes them.  Will he take them through the Jaguars defense?

The Jaguars came out of Week 6 16th in points with 23 per game, 10th in total yards with 357.8 per game, 20th in passing yards with 221.2 per game, and 9th in rushing yards with 136.7 per game. The problem the Jaguars are having is RB Travis Etienne Jr is not having a better season then RB James Robinson.. They should not have paid Travis… but NFL GM’s learn late and apply later.

Defensive Analysis

The Giants defense came out of Week 6 14th in defense of total yards with 339.3 per game, 8th in defense of passing yards with 194.5 per game, 28th in defense of rushing yards (not good against the Giants( with 144.8 per game, and 7th in defense of total points scored with 18.8
