Season Record

Giants: 9-6, 3rd place NFC East
Eagles: 13-3, 1st place NFC East

An NFC East battle of hated rivals and postseason placement. Right now The New York Giants sit as the sixth seed in the NFC and cannot move out of the sixth spot with a win or loss against the Eagles next week. They have nothing left to play for and might sit their starters in the final game as they prepare for the playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles have one thing to play for.. To keep the #1 seed which comes with home field advantage all the way through the postseason.  If the Eagles lose and the 49ers win?... The 49ers get the #1 seed as they have the tie-breaker. The Eagles would also very much like to get a win going into the Playoffs considering they have now dropped 2 games in a row without Jalen Hurts under center.  The Great betting opportunity here comes down to how you feel about massive point spreads?!  14 is way too many points to lay in most NFL games now and throughout history… except for the blow-outs, obviously.  So will the Eagles get a blow-out win over the Giants?... is the only question we need to answer. Yes, bet the Eagles… No,  bet the Giants.  Let’s look at the numbers.

The New York Giants have won 2 of their last 3 games… helping them to secure a wild-card playoff spot as the 6th seed… the NFC East has 3 teams (Eagles, Cowboys, Giants) who have clinched postseason spots. Their last game was a 38-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts… also a big win ATS.  In that game QB Daniel Jones completed 19 of 24 for 177 yards and 2 TDs… he also rushed for 91 yards on 11 carries for 2 more TDs.  He was looking like a healthy Jalen Hurts out there… and at just the right time… The kid will need a new contract or to get franchise tagged to make the big money next year.  RB Saquon Barkley had a quiet day with 58 yards on 12 carries.  Saquon has been ground down all season as the primary offensive option. He will also be looking for a newer, bigger contract.

The Philadelphia Eagles have lost their last two games with backup QB Gardner Minshew under center.  They put up 34 points against the Cowboys but still lost and managed only 10 points against the lowly New Orleans Saints and got a 20-10 loss in their last game. In that game Minshew looked lost completing only 18 of 32 for 274 yards 1 TD and 1 INT. The Eagles running game was nowhere to be found with only 61 yards on 12 carries from RB Miles Sanders.  This is because not only does a healthy Jalen Hurts kill it in the passing game with 3472 yards and 22 TDs to only 5 INTs… he is also a great rusher who has put up 747 yards and 13 TDs from the run on the season. The offense needs Jalen to make everything work. The firm belief around the Eagles is that Jalen will play this game… BUT?!!!  If the score is big either way near the end… he obviously will be sat to preserve… would then betting a -14 favorite be smart at all?

New York Giants VS Philadelphia Eagles Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday, January 8th is…  Eagles 30 - Giants 10

Bet on the Eagles.  Normally a 14 point spread should be bet the other way.  Except in this case Giants starters on offense will be rested… putting backups against a GREAT Philadelphia defense.  Further, if Jalen is expected to play to tune up for the postseason and secure that #1 seed all the way through… You can bet he is the type of player who will go all out!
