Season Record

Giants: 8-5, 3rd place NFC East
Vikings: 11-3, 1st place NFC North

An NFC battle of two teams that are coming off of very bizarre wins.  The New York Giants play in the most competitive division in football… probably the best division.  The NFC East sits atop the league as the only division where all four teams (Eagles, Cowboys, Commanders) have winning records… The Giants have just come off of a win over the division rival Washington Commanders to land firmly in 3rd place… It was an odd win as it seems as if the refs were determined to give the Giants the win… the refs swallowed their whistles through three close but obvious pass interference calls.  But a win is a win.  The Minnesota Vikings just won the most amazing comeback in NFL regular season history (funny it came against QB Matt Ryan, who is familiar with that type of thing).  The Vikings were down by 33 POINTS to the Indianapolis Colts at halftime… and I hope you bet the OVER in that game (I didn’t either)... then came back to win it 39-36.  It was the ultimate 2022 Vikings game… a season where the Vikings have come back late or won it close more times than any team should be allowed to.  The Vikings are only 6-7-1 ATS… but the 11-3 record is all they care about.

The New York Giants won their last game against the Washington Commanders 20-12.  QB Daniel Jones had a very soft performance in the passing game while going 21 of 32 with 0 TDs and 0 INT.  Daniel’s contribution came from handing the ball to RB Saquon Barkley who rushed for 87 yards and 1 TD.  The big offensive moment came from Thibodeaux of the defense who scooped a fumble for a TD.  The Giants looked soft all day and the Commanders failed to capitalize on that.  The Giants got the win, but sadly it seems Giants fans have been firmly convinced that Daniel Jones is not the quarterback of the future.

The Minnesota Vikings won their last game 39-36… an insane 2nd half comeback from 33 points down.  QB Kirk Cousins torched the defense for 460 yards, 4 TDs and 2 INTs on 34 of 54 passing.  The INTs came early… The TDs came late.  Kirk Cousins is having a bizarre season where he keeps getting these stunning late game wins.  The Vikings had to overcome 2 interceptions (one for a TD) and a fumble by Dalvin Cook and a blocked put return for a TD… that put them in a very deep hole… but they did it!  WR KJ Osborn had 10 receptions for 157 yards with 1TD… while WR Justin Jefferson had 12 receptions for 123 yards with 1 TD… not to be left out of it RB Dalvin Cook had 4 receptions for 95 yards with 1 TD…. The Vikings passing game is very powerful.  If they can clean up the turnovers?... The Postseason could be shocking.

New York Giants VS Minnesota Vikings Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, December 24th is… Vikings 28 - Giants 17

Finally the Vikings will cover a spread.  While the Vikings have a soft defense… one of the very softest.  They will only have to stop a tired Saquon Barkely as QB Daniel Jones seems to be coming apart under the pressure of probably soon losing his job.  Whereas the Viking will be hitting Osborn and Jefferson for big plays all day.  It will be a track meet early and then when the Giants are forced to pass to keep up… bad things will happen.  Bet on the Vikings.

Starting Lineups

Giants: QB Daniel Jones, RB Saquon Barkley, WR Isaiah Hodgins, WR Richie James, WR Darius Slayton, TE Daniel Bellinger, LT Andrew Thomas, LG Nick Gates, C Jon Feliciano, RG Mark Glowinski, RT Evan Neal

Vikings: QB Kirk Cousins, RB Dalvin Cook, FB CJ Ham, WR Justin Jefferson, WR Adam Thielen, TE Johnny Mundt, LT Christian Darrisaw, LG Ezra Cleveland, C Austin Schlottman, RG Ed Ingram, RT Brian O’Neill

Weather Forecast

Cloudy, 6*... That’s right 6 degrees, wind 21 MPH, Humidity 66%... but thankfully the Vikings have a dome!  Yes, the magical dome… the sort of thing that would immediately improve Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay and Buffalo.  Domes or roofs should be mandatory to own an NFL team.  Bad weather ruins good football and wreaks havoc on point spreads.
