Season Record

Saints: 4-7, 3rd place NFC South
49ers: 6-4, 1st place NFC West

An NFL NFC matchup between a loaded roster and an empty roster.  The San Francisco 49ers have recently caught up to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC West. The 49ers started shaky because of an attempt to change quarterbacks from Jimmy G to Trey Lance… it didn’t look to be working at first, but then it was firmly decided when Trey Lance broke his ankle and will miss all of this season and possibly the summer.  So they went back to Jimmy G and after a couple of shaky weeks… the 49ers began winning at a high rate again.  They are now in the same position as they have been for the last several seasons.  Jimmy G guiding a winning team into the playoffs with the likelihood that they will come up short because of Jimmy G at the most crucial moment.  Old news is news again.  The 49ers though are still a stacked team with a ton of offensive weapons and a tough defense.  They could be a Super Bowl team… and their quarterback (Jimmy G) is highly likely to be playing for someone else next season.  The New Orleans Saints wish they had Jimmy G at quarterback… instead they have a steady string of nobodies.  Not unknowns… just nobodies. QB Andy Dalton, QB Jameis Winston, QB Taysom Hill… they all have tried to start at quarterback and they all have delivered losses.  It’s a shame too because the offense has several weapons on the squad… WR Jarvis Landry, RB Alvin Kamara, WR Chris Olave, RB Mark Ingramn II… WR Michale Thomas is on IR.  The Saints are also not terrible on defense… they are just bad at ultimately stopping points… but in the NFL when you have no quarterback? You have nothing.

The New Orleans Saints won their last game against the Los Angeles Rams 27-20, it was their 4th win of the season.  In that game veteran QB Andy Dalton went 21 of 25 for 260 yards and 3 TDs… spreading those TDs out amongst Olave, Landry, and Johnson.  QB Taysom Hill was yet again tried at QB for 3 gimmick passes… going 1 for 3 for 14 yards.  Most anybody would rather have Taysom catching passes with his athletic body rather than throwing them.  Taysom would also rin 9 times for 52 yards.  Since it was against the crumbling Los Angeles Rams the win means nothing.  They were favored… they won.  They are not close to favored against the 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers are on a 3-game winning streak… against the Rams, Chargers, and Cardinals.  Their last win was against the Arizona Cardinals where they covered a -10 points spread for a 28 point win… 38-10.  They had the Cardinals number all day… especially since the Cardinals had backup QB Colt McCoy under Center. The Saints defense is much better than the Cardinals defense… but still the 49ers have a ton of weapons to beat them with.  QB Jimmy Garapolo has his choice of RB Christian McCaffrey, WR Deebo Samuel, TE George Kittle, and WR Brandon Aiyuk on any given play.  On defense the 49ers look like the best team in the league with sackleader DE Nick Bosa (10.5) being backed by Fred Warner at LB, and Charvarious Ward and Jimmie Ward at corner. They lead the league in defending total yards and defending rushing yards.  That is a big help to the offense… They tend to always get the ball back sooner than later.

New Orleans Saints VS San Francisco 49ers  Preview and Analysis

Recent Form

NO: 4-7, 4-7 ATS, 6-5 O/U, 1-3 in road games.
SF: 6-4, 5-5 ATS, 4-6 O/U, 3-1 in home games.

Offensive Analysis

The Saints are 15th in scoring with 22.6 points per game, 4th in total yards with 355.2 per game, 7th in passing yards with 237.5 per game, and 15th in rushing yards with 117.7 per game.  They have a quality offense… that has no true leader.  They have very few moves in crunch time.

The 49ers are 11th in scoring with 23.6 points per game, 11th in total yards with 362.7 yards per game, 8th in passing yards with 235.5 per game, and 12th in rushing yards with 127.2 per game.  Before you get bogged down by the numbers you have to remember the 6 quarters of football played with Trey Lance at quarterback were actual goose eggs on offense.  The first in a driving rain… the second with not much going on.  Those numbers affect these numbers so under Jimmy G the 49ers are better than their averages.

Defensive Analysis

The Saints defense is 12th in defense of total yards with 327.3 yards per game allowed, 8th in defense of passing yards with 195.2 yards allowed per game, 22nd in defense of rushing yards with 132.1 allowed per game, 25th in defense of points with 24.3 per game allowed.

The 49ers defense is 1st in defense of total yards with 283.9 allowed per game, 11th in defense of passing yards with 202.8 per game allowed, 1st in defense of rushing yards with 81.1 allowed per game, 4th in defense of points with 17.3 allowed per game.

New Orleans Saints VS San Francisco 49ers  Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday, November 27th is…. 49ers 30 - Saints 17

Bet on the 49ers.  The spread is a large 9.5 points but the 49ers are on a roll and will stay on that roll as long as they keep running into these bad teams.  The Saints defense is OK but the 49ers defense is much better.  The Saints offense is good, but the 49ers offense is better.
