An NFL NFC battle of great quarterback versus great team.  The Green Bay Packers are not a team of destiny… They are hardly a team.  They have the NFL’s most “expected to win” quarterback who is simply not winning.  Everyone thinks that QB Aaron Rodgers has the arm talent to power through almost any game and come out with a chance to win… That has not happened this season at all.  It turns out that when you have a 50 million dollar quarterback with no clear weapons to throw the ball to… You only have a salary cap eating mess. Rodgers famously ingested the psychotropic drug Ayahuasca during the offseason and he may still be seeing tracers… because he is not seeing his receivers.  He also may have a hurt thumb.  The Philadelphia Eagles on the other hand, keep on winning.  Winning seems like all they do this year.  The Eagles also have one of the most overlooked quarterbacks in football history. QB Jalen Hurts was the starting quarterback at Alabama!  That is a big deal!  And he got replaced as his team was approaching a National Title… ouch.  He took his lumps, kept working and found a new powerhouse college that would start him… and almost won a National Championship with them. Then the draft came and Jalen was overlooked in the first round and eventually drafted to the bench in Philadelphia in the second round… He kept on working, skipped the brain altering drugs… and now finds himself as the Field General of the best record in the NFL. Whether this season leads to a Super Bowl or not… the feeling in Philly is that Jalen Hurts is the GUY!  And they are right.

The Green Bay Packers have lost 6 of their last 7 games… essentially ending their season with 6 games left to play.  Yes, mathematically they could still hit the postseason… but I’ll bet you 3 Units that will not happen. The Packers lost their last game to the Tennessee Titans 27-17… a loss ATS… Rodgers went 24 of 39 for 227 passing yards and 2 TDs.  As always the Packers got away from the run game too early and for too long with RB Aaron Jones only getting 40 yards on 12 carries… and no rusher of substance getting much of anything else.  The Packers can feel buoyed a bit by the fact that WR Christian Watson is showing some talent out there… but too little too late to connect with a quarterback that simply does not work well with young guys.

The Philadelphia Eagles have won 9 of their 10 games this season.  Their only loss came against the Washington Redskins.  That may be seen as a Mulligan OR that not all is perfect going forward.  Afterall the Redskins are pretty much garbage.  The Eagles won their last game against the Indianapolis Colts 17-16… A big loss ATS. When it comes to the spread the Eagles are only 5-5 this season.  In that game Jalen Hurts had a quiet win with 18 of 25 passes for 190 yards with 1TD and 0 INT…. Then of course Jalen led the team in rushing with 86 yards on 16 carries/scrambles for another TD.  One of the Eagles strengths is also a weakness in that on offense Jalen tends to do it all. Fortunately for Philly the defense is fantastic, where they are 2nd in defending yards and 6th in defending points.  Continued health for Jalen Hurts will undoubtedly continued wins at a good percentage… Will it mean winning ATS?

The Eagles are 4th in scoring with 26.3 points per game, 10th in total yards with 370.6 per game, 12th in passing yards with 228.1 per game, and 6th in rushing yards with 142.5 allowed per game.

The Packers defense is 14th in defense of total yards with 328.3 per game allowed, 4th in defense of passing yards with 192.5 allowed per game, 25th in defense of rushing yards with 135.8 per game allowed, and 16th in defense of points with 22.1 allowed per game.

The Eagles defense is 2nd in defense of total yards with 300.6 allowed per game, 2nd in defense of passing yards with 178.4 allowed per game, 19th in defense of rushing yards with 122.2 allowed per game, 6th in defense of points with 18.3 allowed per game.

Our prediction for Sunday, November 27th is…. Eagles 27 - Packers 17

 

Bet on the Eagles.  Simple as good vs bad.  While some may worry about Aaron Rodgers going off… It seems that is not really happening this season.  The frustration builds on the offensive side and will eventually boil over on the defensive side.  Jalen Hurts should scramble for more rushing yards than he has gotten in a single game all season since the quality on the Packers defense is pass defense heavy.
