Packers: 4-8, 3rd place NFC North
Bears: 3-9, 4th place NFC North

An NFC North battle, in one of the biggest rivalries in NFL History… Only both teams are losers at the same time.  The Packers VS Bears rivalry is supposed to be about tough guys, cold weather, hard hitting defenses, announcers using the term “Gridiron” a whole lot more than anyone should.  We are supposed to see the breath pour out of the players in the cold winter air… we are supposed to hear the crunch of hits on the line… we are supposed to catch a glimpse of blood on someone's knuckles.  I bet none of that matters.  The Green Bay Packers lost yet again… and star quarterback Aaron Rogers may be done for the year because of injuries to his thumb and ribs… He narcissistically announced that “as long as we are mathematically not eliminated I want to be out there”... Oh thanks Sir Rodgers!  Do any of the other players get to decide if they “want” to play?… Outside of the big paycheck Aaron has not gotten much from his team this season… and the team has not gotten much from him either.  The season for the Packers is washed… which makes betting on Packers games difficult.  They are favored by -2.5 over the Bears this coming Sunday… but is that with or without Rodgers?... What if Jordan Love starts?  Bet it quick if you think the Bears would beat the Packers with Love and not Rodgers… just in case.  The Chicago Bears also have a washed season… a Bears season that will again finish far from a playoff spot.  The Bears think they have found their franchise quarterback in Justin Fields… but Fields sat out last game with rib soreness and may not be back this season just to prevent any further damage.  This coming offseason will be a big one for the Bears… They MUST find Justin Fields some quality offensive linemen… and some weapons… and a better defense… and more weapons.  That is the future… Meanwhile the present is being housed by the New York Jets with backup QB Trever Simien under center.

The Green Bay Packers are on a 2-game losing streak… but have seriously lost 7 of their last 8 games.  They have been falling off the cliff of relevance for the last 2 months.  The offense is bad at scoring points while the defense is bad at defending points… the truest recipe for losing in the known universe. The team is in a very painful prolonged goodbye with QB Aaron Rodgers.  The front office definitely regrets NOT trading Rodgers to Denver or San Francisco when they had the chance.  They could be exactly the same losing team without Rodgers right now… except they would have a shelf full of upcoming draft picks to build from… whether that had been around Jordan Love, Jimmy G, or a draft pick to be named later.  The reality of the moment is the Pacers lost their last game to the Philadelphia Eagles 40-33… A high scoring shootout that definitely hit the OVER.  In the game QB Aaron Rodgers was 11 of 16 passing for 140 yards 2 TDs and 2 INTs… It was those interceptions that killed the Packers. Then Aaron left the game with injury and QB Jordan Love passed 6 of 9 for 113 yards 1 TD 0 INT.  The Packers came up short but did score the ball very well.  If Love gets the full time start against the Bears we may get to finally see if he can start for the team next season.

The Chicago Bears have lost 5 straight games.  Their season is over and everyone in the world knows it.  The one bright spot is the thinking that they may be on the right track to improvement.  The looming dark cloud of course is the Bears front office will be making the draft picks and they have never proved to be very good at that sort of thing.  The Bears lost their last game to the New York Jets 31-10. In the loss Siemian threw 14 of 25 for 179 yards 1TD and 1 INT.  It was an underwhelming performance from an underwhelming backup quarterback.  A giant problem with the Bears inserting a backup quarterback is that backup quarterbacks do not play defense! Defense is a struggle for the 2022-23 Bears… They are 27th in defense of points while giving up 25.4 per game… the Jets pushed that average aside and ran it up to 31.
