Season Record

Lions: 1-4 NFC North
Cowboys: 4-2 NFC East

The magic of an old rivalry that is most known for Thanksgiving Day games.  The NFC East went from the worst division in football last season to the best division in the NFC this season.  They have the most wins: Eagles, Giants, Cowboys, Commanders.. But they are all still suspect because they were all terrible last season.  The Detroit Lions don’t have that problem… They have always been terrible.  Seriously, year after year the Lions have been bad… heck they have been winless!  In an attempt to turn everything around the Lions have focused on a tough guy coach… and a touch guy offense.. And so far… it isn’t working.

The Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff has been in a SuperBowl with the Los Angeles Rams… and the Rams promptly moved off of QB JG for the Lions legend Matt Stafford.  The Rams won a Super Bowl while the Lions have kept losing. The most recent loss was a 29-0 drubbing from the New England Patriots… The Patriots by the way used a third string quarterback who may rise the ranks to be the starter.  Amazingly the Lions are 3rd in the league in scoring… they actually are the team with the most losses to single score differences in the league the last 3 seasons… and the hits keep coming.  The betting public are waiting for the Lions to rise up just a few possessions a game and become a winning team.  They have lots of scoring but no stopping. The Lions are last place in defense of total yards, total points, and defense of rushing yards.

Do you know who has lots of stopping?... The Dallas Cowboys.  The Cowboys defense has been as powerful as they ever have been (forgive me Leon Lett).  They have the best defensive player in the league on defense: LB Micah Parsons.  And they have pass coverage and rushing and blah blah blah.  What they unfortunately have is a quarterback on one of the worst contracts in the NFL.  QB Dak Prescott signed a HUGE contract in the offseason and got knocked out in the first game (a loss to Tampa Bay).  His back-up QB Cooper Rush took over and won 4 straight games… then lost a game to the Eagles.  Now Dak is back!  And the worry is that he will still be as ineffective as he was in Game 1!  Or as ineffective as last season.. Or the season before.  Dak will forever be a GM study for why not to sign the QB to a big contract if you don’t have full faith in him. Stay ready Cooper…. What makes Dak Prescott’s return so ready for immediate success but still long term murkiness is the Lions terrible defense.

Detroit Lions vs Dallas Cowboys Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday, October 23rd is… Cowboys 35 - Lions 24

The Lions defense is so terrible it will feel like a coming out party for the frustrated Dak Prescott… and for Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard… and finally CeeDee Lamb will catch a few balls BEFORE the drop.  Bet on the Cowboys ATS AND the OVER.
