Season Record

Bears: 3-4, 3rd place NFC North
Cowboys: 5-2, 3rd place NFC East

An NFC matchup between two teams that just had needed wins for their quarterbacks.  The Chicago Bears are not a good team.  Every week they play feels like another test for Quarterback Justin Fields and whether he can expend his limitations and maximize his physical gifts.  The Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is the luckiest guy around.  The Cowboys have had the pleasure of going 3-1 with Dak prescott on the injured list… and the double pleasure of welcoming Dak back to the starting lineup with games against Detroit and Chicago.  That is a nice soft landing for a quarterback who opened the season with a lame duck loss followed by watching his unknown backup win the hearts of Cowboys fans everywhere.

The Chicago Bears aren’t really a football team.  They are a chemistry experiment.  Will QB Justin Fields work and who should we keep on the roster if he does? After Week 7 it is clear that the numbers will have them in or near the bottom of every statistical category except rushing (where they are 1st).  The thing about the Bears is they have a really solid defense except against the run. Their last win was a shocking blowout of the New England Patriots 33-14. Add a win against the Washington Commanders the week before gives the Bears their first 2 game winning streak of the season… also 2/3rds of their total wins.  So they are finding their footing… just in time to be destroyed by the Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys have learned some important lessons while Dak was injured and they were winning without him.  Those important lessons all revolve around how the Quarterback should not be relied on for a high-flying offense.  The team wins games with defense and a strong rushing attack.  All Dak should really be doing is passing enough to keep the other side honest in coverage.  A double blessing of this upcoming game is that the Bears are bad against the run… which will open the field up for RB Ezekiel Elliot and RB Tony Pollard.  The Cowboys defense have 3 very bright spots in DE Demarcus Lawrence, LB Micah Parsons (the best in football right now), and CB Trevon Diggs

Chicago Bears vs Dallas Cowboys Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday, October 30th is… Cowboys 30 - Bears 13

Expect a Cowboys blowout. Chicago is nowhere near as good as Detroit on offense and the Cowboys just blew them out.  Plus it completely fits the story…. The Cowboys will win enough to get into the playoffs where they will lose unceremoniously, causing Jerry Jones to reshuffle things yet again. This game will be the field day that Dak has been dreaming about since the season started.

So the bet is for the Cowboys ATS  AND on the OVER.
