Yankees: 55-20, 1st place AL East

An American League matchup between the best in the AL East and the best in the AL West.  While we have great odds to bet on the Yankees on the moneyline… The Atros have had their number a bit.  Plus we have no idea how the Astros may be cheating this season.  Major League Commissioner Rob Manfred endorsed cheating the moment he called the World Series trophy “a piece of metal”.  The Yankees are a juggernaut of winning this season… Stranding head and shoulders above all the other Division leaders in all of baseball.   The Astros have 9 less wins… That is a lot, but with several months left in the season it is really not that many.  I seanced the Ghost of Shoeless Joe Jackson recently and as I told him about the Astros cheating their way into a World Series win… he responded “Oh my goodness, by an’ by.. There must have been a plethora of lifetime bans handed out…”.  When I told him “no” he responded  “Great Crickey Almighty… At least in our case some of the boys needed the money for bootblack and chaw!”.  Such is the world of perspective.  However the Yankees can beat the Astros… and the Astros can beat the Yankees.  So let’s look at the numbers and place some bets.

The New York Yankees have won 6 of their last 10 games.  It has been a down stretch for a 55-20 team.  They are bouncing back with ease against the horrible Oakland A’s.  It’s fun.  They have gone 2-0 against the Oakland Athletics, 2-2 against THESE Houston Astros, 2-1 against the Tampa Bay Rays, and 0-1 against the Toronto Blue Jays.  The Yankees have played the Oakland series to perfection with one left to play. They have rested guys like Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres and in Game 3 they will rest Anthony Rizzo… They have no reason to go full strength against the wimp who they will be kicking sand in the face on the beach.  This rested team will hammer the Astros if you believe in rest in the first place.  

The Houston Astros have won 7 of their last 10 games.  They have been a killer on the diamond… I wonder if they are using drones with telescopic lenses?.  They went 1-0 against the New York Mets (with another playing now), 2-2 against THESE New York Yankees, 2-0 against the red hot ZZNew York Mets, and 2-1 against the Chicago White Sox.  Yordan Alvarez is delivering for the Astros at the plate with 23 home runs, .321 batting average, and 1.081 OPS.  He leads the team in all 3 categories. Justin Verlander is their pitching stud… and with a quality roster around them… those two guys can make great things happen… once they get the information from the drones.
