Season Record

Guardians: 92-70, 1st place AL Central. / 1-1 ALDS
Yankees: 99-63, 1st place Al East. / 1-1 ALDS

Game 4 of the ALDS.  We are guaranteed to get Game 4 since the Cleveland Guardians won Game 2, 4-2.  There will be no sweep in this series.  The Yankees (like the Dodgers in the West) lost home field advantage by splitting the first two games in Yankee Stadium.  We are tied at 1-1.  Game 3 will go off (today) Saturday.  Game 4 could be for all the marbles for either team,  or it could be another game that notches the series and sends everyone back to the Bronx for a decisive game 5.  So, we have to find the best betting opportunity.

The New York Yankeeshad everything about the ALDS in the palm of their hand… They won Game 1 and took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game 2 off a Giancarlo Stanton 2 run home run.  It was going to be smooth sailing… and then they did not score for the next 9 innings.  For the league’s #2 team in scoring this has been a familiar refrain.  Big game after big game in win after win… and then inexplicably the pump goes dry.  Yankee manager Aaron Boone has not found a reliable way of shaking things up when the pump does go dry.  If they have trouble scoring in Cleveland?... Like they did in all of August?... The series may not return to the Bronx. Followed by Aaron Boone may not return to the bench… followed by Aaron Judge May not get that 10 year contract with more zeroes than you can imagine (from the Yankees).

The Cleveland Guardians get two games on their home field against a great Yankee team that badly swooned at the end of the season. These games are their best chance to pounce and take the series.  In Game 2 Cleveland had 9 hits that produced 4 runs and needed an extra inning to get the job done.  They scored 2 runs in the top of the tenth inning… and held on to win it.  “We just try to find a way on base anyway we have,” Naylor said. “If it’s a bloop hit, it’s a bloop hit. If it’s a hard-hit single, double — whatever the case it — we just try to hustle. Try to make things happen on the field, try to put pressure on the defense.” Guardians manager Terry Francona is encouraged by the way his team held the Yankees scoreless over the last 9 innings of a 10 inning game.  He relies on his pitching and they rarely let him down lately.

New York Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday, October 16th is… Guardians 5 - Yankees 3

Bet on the Guardians on the moneyline.

The second game in Cleveland (series Game 4 ) could see the Yankees up by one or the Guardians up by one depending on what happens tonight in Game 3… Either way the best return on your bet will be the Guardians to win…  since Millions of dollars were flushed out of Gambler’s bankrolls betting on the Yankees in August.  It would seem the better return may also be the better bet.
