This preview is for Game 3 of the series.  There was some severe confusion in betting this series.  Baseball had oddly scheduled the first two games of this series to have a 1 day break in between to get a spot in the full national broadcast.  They were to play Tuesday and Thursday Games 1 and Games 2… Then they were to fly to Cleveand for game 3 Friday night.  That did not happen as Thursday Night became a rained out game.  So Game 2 is now a Friday Day Game with game 3 on Saturday Night.  Do you have that?  It caused a lot of trouble… and now has led to a couple of very rested teams.   So this preview is for GAME 3 on Saturday Night.

The ALDS matchup of Yankees vs Guardians has brought a lot of excitement but not a lot of games yet.  At press time Game 2 is in the fourth inning with a Yankees lead of 2-0.

The New York Yankees will arrive in Cleveland with a lot of star power (Judge, Rizzo, Torres, Stanton), a slice of history (Judge 62 homers), and all those powerful Yankee postseason expectations. Yankee Manager Aaron Boone has a top-notch squad that hits the ball great and pitches fantastically… He also has to answer for the fact that after one of the best starts in Yankee history to any season… the team dipped.  It dipped so hard they fell a game short of 100 wins when they were on pace for 110 after the first 3 months.  In game 1 of this series the Yankees got the win… (Game 2 could go either way, as they are now tied 2-2 with more innings to play.).. Yankees fans insist that this is a World Series year and are betting accordingly.

The Cleveland Guardians are the overlooked squad in this matchup… and for most of the season.  They do have plenty of talent though.  3B Jose Ramirez leads the Guardians in home runs, batting average, and OPS… he bats third in the line-up after Steven Kwan and Amed Rosario… and though none of those are household names, they have contributed to a team that is 7th in batting average.  The Guardians pitchers are really the reason the team is alive at the moment: Quantrill, Bieber, Civale all have been throwing well.  The team is top-6 in every pitching category.

New York Yankees vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction

Our prediction for Saturday, October 15th is… Guardians 4 - Yankees 3

The Guardians are very well rested and will push for a win on their home field.  The Yankees are fantastic by the numbers but lost A LOT of games toward the end of the season.  They aren’t the type of team that gets SWEEPS.  So the Guardians should be expected to grind one out with home field advantage… especially after a Friday Day game in New York followed by a flight to Cleveland followed by The Guardians waking up in their own beds tomorrow morning.
