Brewers: 78-68, 2nd place NL East

Game 2 of this National League Matchup between the Mets and the Brewers.  The Brewers make a promise with their roster that they don’t seem to be able to live up to.  The Mets win at a really great rate, enough to find them 2nd in the National League… 8 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers but still second.  The prediction will be found tonight’s hitting.  The pitching matchup at this time of year starts to get very predictable with the top teams… and they will each have to score off each other in order to get the win.  Easy Peasy.

A National League matchup of the 1st place NL East team against the 2nd place NL Central team.  It is a funny betting line.  Yes, the Mets are favored… but it is as close to a pick’ em as you can get while still favoring somebody.  The Mets have a better record by a full 14 wins… and the Mets have to play in the same division as the Atlanta Braves… who while second in the NL East are still 3 games better than the Cardinals in the NL Central… follow?... It seems the NL Central is the tougher division.  So the Great Betting Opportunity is the almost even odds.. Or we are looking at a lopsided pitching matchup, if Scherzer doesn’t make the start, in favor of the Brewers.  Let’s check the numbers… and the pitching matchup and make a bet worth our time and money.

The New York Mets have won 6 of their last 10 games.  They are easily top-five in batting and easily top-ten in pitching.  They also contributed a bunch of players to this season’s all-star game.  The Mets got bad news recently when Starling Marte landed on the injury list  with a bad finger… his CF spot is not much to worry about but his bat will be missed.  Insane animal pitcher Max Scherzer is listed as probable for Monday after a brief stint for an oblique soreness.  Still this Mets team is loaded and full of pep.  They went 2-0 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, 0-3 to the Chicago Cubs, 2-1 against the Miami Marlins, and 2-0 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Milwaukee Brewers have won 7 of their last 10 games.  With a low team batting average and a low team ERA.. they seem to rise a bit to do well in the other numbers like scoring and WHIP.  This shoestring approach however has a tendency of backfiring.  They spent most of the season as the NL Central’s #1 team until the St Louis Cardinals overtook them.  They went 2-0 against the New York Yankees, 1-1 against the St Louis Cardinals, 2-1 against the Cincinnati Reds, 2-0 against the San Francisco Giants, and 0-1 against the Colorado Rockies during that stretch.  This is a team patiently waiting for a final kick of the season… They have big bats with Christain Yelich, Willy Adames, and Hunter Renfroe.  Will it start?... When will it start?  Are any of the missing pitchers coming back in time for the postseason?

New York Mets vs Milwaukee Brewers Prediction

Our prediction for Tuesday, September 20th is… Mets 6 - Brewers 3

The bet is for the Mets on the moneyline.  If you have the cojones you could put it ATS.  However the more secure return between two good teams will always be the moneyline.
