Mets - Dodgers preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets will continue their four-game series Friday when they play Game 2 at Dodger Stadium.

It’s the continuation of a California trip for the Mets, who just wrapped up losing two of three to the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park this week. Now they face the Dodgers, who are still in a neck-and-neck battle with the Giants in the National League West.

The Dodgers entered Thursday three games back of the Giants, who are set to begin a crucial three-game road series against the Oakland Athletics.

Much like the Giants, the Dodgers are rolling into the postseason with a dominant group of pitchers at their disposal. Walker Buehler is set to take the mound for the Dodgers in a battle of right-handers, facing Carlos Carrasco from New York.

Buehler is having his most dominant season yet, posting a 12-2 record with a career-best 2.09 ERA in 154 innings. He’s closing in on career-highs in that category, strikeouts, and earned runs. He’s only lost two starts since June 29.

The Mets did fine in avoiding the sweep against the Giants, but their offense still needs to get going. When the Dodgers swept them over the weekend in the Citi Field, New York was outscored 20-10, including a 14-4 rout Sunday at the hands of Max Scherzer.

The last time Carrasco faced the Dodgers was, yes, that 14-4 loss to the Dodgers. The right-hander was pulled after only two innings, giving up six earned runs and only striking out three.

Betting trends

The Dodgers have been a favorite in almost every game this season (75-43), but the under has held a slight edge (57-56).

The Mets are 18-30 when an underdog.

Prediction

We sense a giant domination here once again at the hands of the Dodgers. Dodgers win 10-2.
