New Mexico State vs UTEP Prediction

The current betting odds have UTEP listed as a 16 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Both of these teams have played 2 games this season as both played in Week 0, and both have started off with 2 losses and some very bad performances. UTEP did have a tougher schedule in their 2 games though, even facing the ranked Oklahoma on the road while NM State has not had to face a ranked opponent yet. NM State looked terrible in their last game too, it was a big game for their coach Jerry Kill as he was returning to Minnesota, a school he once coached for, to play against them and his team went out there getting shutout by a Minnesota team that isn't great, and even failing to cover the spread that was close to 37 points. UTEP also got blown out in their last game against Oklahoma but they still scored some points on them and their offense is going to move the ball in this bad NM State defense in this game. UTEP's defense should also be a lot better here as NM State does not throw the ball a lot, and they have 2 very bad QB's who have been awful in their first 2 games. UTEP is the better team here and they will get a nice feel good win here at home by a lot. The best way to place a bet here is on UTEP to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

“I guess I take it as a blessing that I got the opportunity to come back.” - Jerry Kill on his team’s loss against Minnesota in their last game.

"We played a really good football team today. They execute at a high level, and they did some really good things, but I feel really comfortable about our football team and what we gained. We played a lot of guys. … We had to because of the heat. We played a lot of guys and had 11 guys catch passes today, so that part of it shows some depth for us at receiver. It was a fun game and a good experience for us.” - Dana Dimel after his team’s loss against Oklahoma.
