New Mexico State vs Bowling Green Prediction

The current betting odds have Bowling Green listed as a 3.5 point favorite in this game according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Bowling Green played really well this season and at one point they were even in the conversation for the MAC Title game but things started to unravel for them in the final stretch and they finished the season off with some bad games against conference opponents. They are looking for a Bowl win to end their season off here though and their players are going to be very motivated to get a win in this game. New Mexico State had a very good season for their standards as Jerry Kill has brought this team to a Bowl game after years of 1 to 0 win seasons and he has done a lot to really improve this team this season. It would be great for him to cap off his 1st year with a Bowl win too but he still has a lot of work to do in this program and just qualifying for the Bowl game alone has been a great accomplishment for him and this program this year. Bowling Green still has a better team overall though and they are going to be a lot more motivated to win here as they were not satisfied with the way their season ended. The best way to place a bet here is on Bowling Green to cover the spread in this game.

Notable Quotes

"I was told there's no way to win there, and this was the worst program in the country. I thought, 'Hey, those are the kinds of challenges I like.'" - Jerry Kill on his mindset before taking this head coaching job at the beginning of the season.

“We’re the only show in town on that day, and this is a really important game. This is a really important game for two [reasons]; No. 1, we didn’t send our seniors out on a victory, and we need to do that. There’s some guys on this team that have been through absolute hell, and they need to leave on a positive note. They need to run over and grab that trophy in Detroit and have a great, positive experience. No. 2, we need to springboard into 2023. I told our staff, I look at this as an in-season, high-opponent game. That’s the way we’re approaching it.” - Scot Loeffler on this upcoming Bowl game against NM State.
