A Western Conference matchup between the WHO?  And the WHAT?  Neither of these teams have any recent success to point at… although the Spurs have a rich history of success that the Kings will never catch up to.  At the moment the Spurs roster is made up of nobodies doing nothing… while the Kings roster is made up of somebodies doing middling.  It’s hard to fathom how either of these teams have Owners or GM’s that couldn’t find ANY success in the draft since they have both been drafting very high for the last half a decade… The Kings have been drafting very high for the last 2 decades… still they both give you no confidence of a win on any given night.  The poor San Antonio Spurs keep taking lumps as their legendary coach and front office inch closer and closer to rocking chairs on the porch with lemonade…. The Spurs coach may be 3 years too late for that rocking chair.  Yet the Spurs are accomplishing 1 goal… They are above the Lakers in the standings by 1q spot and 4 wins!  Small victories sometimes!  The Sacramento Kings are actually in the playoff race!  The season is young and this all could change but right now (if the season stopped) the Kings would do something they haven’t done in 20 seasons… make the playoffs as the last seed (subject to a playoff game that would certainly knock them out.  The Kings have two interesting players… C Domantas Sabonis and PG De’Aaron Fox… outside of that they are the dumpster fire they have always been.

The San Antonio Spurs are on a two game losing streak.  They last lost to the Portland Trail Blazers 117-110… but it was a win ATS because the spread was Trail Blazers -8.5. In fact the Spurs are 9-6 ATS… The Spurs are loaded with big spreads because they are bad, yet everyone in the NBA can play basketball no matter how pointless we feel some of their talents are.  In the loss Jakob Poeltl had 31 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Jakob is the best part of the Spurs… Sadly the prize of losing this season may be a guy who can take Jakob’s job. SF Keldon Johnson got 20 points, SG Devin Vassell got 21 points.. The rest of the tema was mostly silent…. And the trick to the Spurs constantly losing is because of the horrible defense!  Jakob may have gotten off on offense, but he never stops anyone on defense.

The Sacramento Kings are on a 4-game winning streak!!  They are winning and winning. They won their last game against the Brooklyn Nets… mostly because the Nets stink… but also because the Kings are rising.  The Kings are the only team in the NBA that WOULD rise during a year where the best possible #1 pick of our lifetimes is available.  The Kings are losers no matter what they do! In the win 7 Kings scored in double figures with bench player Terrance Davis getting 31 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists in 26 minutes!!  It was a Terrance Davis night! 17 from Sabonis, 16 from Barnes, 19 from Huerter… This team can score.  The barely winning record is because they are not good on defense… but maybe when the Spurs hand them their 5th win in a row… The Kings may want some intensity on that end of the floor.

San Antonio Spurs VS Sacramento Kings Prediction

Our prediction for Thursday, November 17th is…. Kings 118 - Spurs 108

The Kings should not suffer against the Spurs. The truth about the Spurs is that the Kings have a better or more veteran presence at every position. The Spurs are not really trying beyond getting the occasional win.  Bet on the Kings… and the 5-game winning streak will be the best in a wonderfully long time!

NBA Betting Trends

San Antonio is 26-21 ATS versus the Kings since 1996.
The Spurs are 5-1 ATS after one or more consecutive Overs.
The Kings are 5-1 ATS when the total is greater or equal to 230 this season.

Players To Watch

Spurs: Not Joshua Primo.  The Spurs were forced to cut PG/SG and former first round draft pick (#12 pick 2021 draft) Joshua Primo because of some “iffy” behavior with exposing himself (allegedly) to the team psychologist.  That was a tough blow for a team that is preparing for a deep rebuild if they land this coming draft’s #1 pick.

Kings:  PG De’Aaron Fox.  With every De’Aaron Fox game the obvious comparisons to what the team would be if they had kept Halliburton and traded Fox will get louder.  The Kings are oddly without any clear vision or leadership… I say oddly because you would think a team that has been losing this long?... Would invest in at least a plan of some kind?

Coaches

Spurs: Greg “Am I the greatest?” Poppovich
Kings: Mike “have you heard of me?” Brown
