A Western Conference mismatch.  A true mismatch because the Suns, while they have disappointed this season, are still trying to win.. And just got a little more healthy.  The Spurs haven’t disappointed anyone this season. The Spurs are terrible but that is because they detonated their roster and got in line to LOSE a bunch of games in hopes of winning the draft lottery… and they just might. Over the last 3-4 season the Spurs have traded away all the players they had that were capable of playing winning basketball.  They now have very little on the roster… but lots of future picks… and a good shot at Victor Wembenyama!  Yeah losing is FUN! The only great betting opportunity here is deciding what points you want to give up on a Suns win. The Suns will win.  How many points?!!

The Phoenix Suns have won 5 of their last 10 games… a marked improvement from this time during the last ten game stretch!  They just recently had a four-game winning streak that was snapped by a loss to the Dallas Mavericks 99-95.  They Are 6-4 ATS over the last 10 games.  In the loss to Dallas they got 22 points form PG Chris Paul, 22 points from PF Cam Johnson who both just returned from an extended stay on the injury list.  They also got 19 points AND 20 REBOUNDS from C Deandre Ayton… the guy the team really wants to trade.  The Suns are getting healthy, but it is a long time before SG Devin Booker will make his return… so they will always seem hobbled.

The San Antonio Spurs have only won 1 of their last 10 games.  They are 5-5 ATS over their last 10 because the spreads are always BIG.  The Spreads are always big because the Spurs stink from a mile away.  The very idea that teams are looking to trade for Jakob Poeltl who is only good because of opportunity is laughable!  The Current Spurs have been designed to lose and they are doing it.  Why they still bother employing Greg Popoviuch as their coach is baffling.  In their last loss to the Los Angeles Clippers they lost 138-100… a 38 point win means a tire fire for the losing team.  Of course they also lost the +13 spread they were gifted.  (I had a full two grand on the Clips!!!!!!!) In the loss no Spurs player had 20 points… it was 19 for Keldon Johnson.. 10 for Jakobh Poeltl… and if anyone offers anything for Poeltl at the deadline they should take the deal with extreme prejudice.  Clippers Center Ivica Zubac, who is a middling, average Center, made Poeltl look like a rookie with an eye infection.

NBA Betting Trends

Phoenix is 3-1 ATS versus Spurs in San Antonio the last 3 seasons.
4 of 5 games in this series in San Antonio went OVER the last 3 seasons.

Players To Watch

Suns: PG Chris Paul.  Chris is working his way back after injury 20 points and 10 assists at a time.  He would struggle against good guards but against the Spurs guards?... He will kill.

Spurs:  No one.  That is right.  When the Spurs play there is no one to watch.  They traded Derrick Williams, and Dejounte Murray specifically so they could lose and win a player as amazing as Tim Duncan.. Probably MORE (I say that only on hype, Duncan is a top 20 player of all-time and you can suck it if you think he isn’t)... The problem with that idea is that THAT Spurs team had David Robinson to pair with Duncan. Victor will struggle here like a chef in an empty kitchen.

COACH

Suns: Monty “mr class” Williams
Spurs: Greg “crying reporters” Poppovich
