An NBA Western Conference matchup that is surprisingly competitive and impactful if you compare these teams with their last season’s teams.  The Phoenix Suns were great last season… They pushed themselves to competitor status and LOTS of people though PG Chris Paul would finally get a ring.  They didn’t win it all, but they won all season long and have almost the same roster this season. PG Chris Paul is getting very long in the tooth but his team is in first place yet again, and boasts a solid amount of star power and depth.  The Sacramento Kings were doormats last season… as they have been for multiple decades (DECADES) in the NBA.  They are a team that has missed on SO MANY draft picks while always being in the lottery, that would make a great subject for a comedic novel.  They have always been the Gang That Could Not Shoot Straight.  Even last season they traded for their current best player C Domantas Sabonis… a real true NBA top 30 player.  All-star numbers except he has sort of always been on bad teams.  The problem with getting Sabonis is that the Kings gave up their best player Tyler Haliburton AND other pieces to get him.  Now they are a team that is improved as they pair Sabonis with Fox and Barnes… but it feels like yet another short lived moment in the sun. Also it is very much like the Sacramento Kings to be one of the worst teams in the NBA for Decades.. And get better right as the best draft in 20 years is coming down the pike?!!!

The Phoenix Suns are on a 4-game winning streak.  The streak has allowed them to “leapfrog” multiple teams in the standings and land in first place!  They won their last game against the Utah Jazz with a narrow 113-112 win.  A win is a win.  In that game (and in the last several games) PG Chris Paul was on the injury list with heel soreness. Something that is disappointing, but not terrible if they can keep winning.  The Suns would rather have a healthy Chris Paul all throughout the playoffs (something his career almost never has supplied)... then have a healthy Chris Paul early in the season.  In the win C Deandre Ayton went off for 29 points and 21 rebounds!  A BIG Time Game.  SG Devin Booker got 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists… and the supporting cast gave the duo just enough to get it done.

The Sacramento Kings are on a 2-game losing streak.  They lost to the Hawks and then the Celtics… For the Kings to be in 6th place AFTER a 2-game losing streak is pretty wonderful for the Kings.  In the 122-104 loss to the Boston Celtics C Domantas Sabonis had a quiet 18 points, 10 rebounds.  De’Aaron Fox had 20 points, 2 assists.  The big hole in the game was not the Kings roster laying down for the better team, though that did happen… It was in the atrocious defense of PG De’Aaron Fox… he had a +/- number of -26 while only playing 30 minutes.  The Kings are a good team with some actual talent this season… they will need some coaching at some point!  To demonstrate the lack of coaching in Sacramento: guard Davion Mitchell is averaging HALF of what he did last season when he was an exciting rookie… the curve is supposed to bend in the other direction.

Phoenix Suns VS Sacramento Kings Prediction

Our prediction for Monday, November 28th is…. Kings 114 - Suns 111

Bet on the Kings.  The Suns have been rolling for 4-games straight… but they have been showing a decline in scoring.  CP3 will still be out… meanwhile the Kings are the #2 scoring team in the entire league.. The collision course is set.  The Kings will simply outscore the Suns.

Players To Watch

Suns: SF Mikal Bridges.  Mikal is an absolute treat for basketball fans.  He is a “do all the dirty work” 2-way player… very impactful in every game he takes the floor while not being the high scorer… Take a look.

Kings: SG Kevin Huerter.  Huerter has come over from the Hawks where he was known as a good shooter who struggled on defense.  Here in Sacramento he is the same thing.  Any Kings game that Kevin hist shots early in?... becomes a game they are likely to win… because scoring takes the pressure off of his slim defense… the reverse is also true… If Kevin does not hit his shots early and at a good percentage? He acts as an anchor to the King's success.

Suns: Monty “Mr Class” Williams
Kings: Mike “mr smile” Brown
