An NBA Eastern Conference battle between a team that is trying very hard to win games so they can contend for a title this season… and a team that is not trying to win games at all… just developing young guys and dreaming of draft lottery ping pong balls.  The 76ers and Magic are on two very different NBA timelines… They play in two very different NBA universes.  The 76ers have a loaded roster full of HUGE salaries… a former MVP, a perennial MVP candidate, a two way Small Forward who had to be played big to keep him… etc etc.  The Orlando Magic only have one type of player on their roster:  Young guys who have done nothing in the NBA yet but represent a ton of potential because they were all high to mid first round draft picks recently.  Sure some were draft busts that came over in trades with other teams but they still have the dream of potential.    However this game will be different than at any other time these roster play each other!  This game will drive the handicappers NUTS!  This game is actually pretty even!  Why… because the Philadelphia 76ers will be missing their top-4 players on the entire roster because of injury.  So the deliberately bad Orlando Magic will actually be taking the court with an even talent level to the Sixers.  Let’s look at the numbers and do a ton of mental gymnastics to come up with a Great Betting Opportunity for this one.

The Philadelphia 76ers beat these same Orlando Magic 107 - 99 in their last game… It was also played in Orlando, so the team has had an extended Disney vacation as they stayed in town a few days to suit up and do it again.  The Sixers got 24 points from PG Shake Milton in 40 minutes of play and 23 points from SF Tobias Harris in 35 minutes of play.  Montrezl Harrell was solid as a replacement Center for Joel Embiid… PF PJ Tucker was mostly invisible in 25 minutes with 0 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist.  PJ may be too small to line-up against 7’1 Bol Bol.  The Sixers cruised to a win against a bad team… but that is when the hard part starts… they stayed in town and had to do it again.  Hopefully they got a lot of rest because with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Matisse Thybulle, and James Harden all missing extended time… the minutes will pile up quickly on role players who are simply not used to that much time… soon they will look like the Walking Dead…

The Orlando Magic lost their last game to the Philadelphia 76ers 107-99 in their last game… they will have a day off and then suit up to do it again.  Instant do-overs can do wonders for young players… the coaching staff can literally SHOW them what they did wrong while watching clips of the game and the next game they get to play the same guys on the same floor.  If some Magic players do not improve in the second game we will know who the bad students are. In the loss PF Paolo Bachero, the current “cornerstone” of the future, had 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists… he has had many MUCH better games but Sixers Forward Tobias Harris is a very good defender.  Magic guard Franz Wagner had 24 points in 36 minutes… and fun to watch PF Bol Bol had 18 points in 35 minutes.  Bol Bol plays power forward and Mo Bamba plays center for this Magic team… and neither are ready to be NBA starters… In fact Mo Bamba may never be ready.  Both guys could be great bench players somewhere, but neither should be starting in the NBA.  These guys are on the floor as starters so that the Magic don’t screw up and win games.  If the Magic succeed and land the #1 pick in the next draft 7’4 Center Victor Wembamyama.  Bamba will be gone and Bol Bol will never start another game in a Magic uniform.

Philadelphia 76ers VS Orlando Magic Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday, November 27th is…. Magic 112 - Sixers 107

The Sixers are missing so many players.  The Magic will be playing  them for the second time in 3 days.  The kids in Orlando will be able to get this win.  It will be their last win for a while but this is their best shot.  Plus Paolo Banchero had a very light game compared with his early season averages so far… a bounce back game for Paolo will make all the difference.

NBA Betting Trends

Philly is 3-1 ATS versus the Magic in Orlando the last 3 season.
Philly is 12 OVER and 25 UNDER as a road underdog the last 3 seasons.
The Magic are 6-4 ATS in home games this season.

Players To Watch

Sixers: C Montrezl Harrell.  This guy was sixth man of the year with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2020 and since has dropped off the NBA map… He has landed on multiple teams in the brief time since, always deep on the bench.  With Joel Embiid missing extended time… Motrezl has the chance to show his abilities again.

Magic: SG Franz Wagner.  Franz led the team in scoring in the last game and is one of those players that is firmly in the Magic’s future plans no matter who they draft in the coming draft.  He needs to simply keep getting those 24 point games… his averages are fine and his development seems on track.

Coaches

Sixers: Doc “I’m still here” Rivers

Magic: Jamahl “Baby Sitters club” Mosley
