An NBA inter conference matchup between teams that are fun to watch and winning… Yet still have major flaws to the rotation and maybe the roster.  The Memphis Grizzlies have the game’s best young point guard in Ja Morant. His AAU teammate from his teenage years Zion Williamson got all the shine and was taken a spot before him (#1 and #2) in their draft… but so far Ja has been the much better pick.  Ja makes it back from minor injuries… Ja leads his team to wins… Ja is a legit MVP candidate every year.  Ja has played BIG playoff games… and once again Ja is leading his team to a winning record and possibly lots more in the postseason. Ja is backed by great SG Desmond Bain.. The kind of guy who is almost CJ McCollum in another uniform.  Desmond hits shots and hustles the offense forward on the break with PG skills. The “secret problem” with the Grizzlies roster is PF JJJ, Jaren Jackson Jr, a guy who is literally the second best player on the roster but who has missed almost as many games as he has played for the Grizzlies since his draft 4 season ago.  The Grizzlies could benefit the most from finding a full-time replacement for JJJ at PF and simply move on.. But it will be a lot of wasted time.  The Washington Wizards have a legit Big Three.. But their current problem is making it all work together.  SF Kyle Kuzma, SG Bradley Beal (3X NBA all-star), and C Kristaps Porzingis (the unicorn) when all healthy and on the same page will be the toughest team to beat… but they have never gotten it all together.  Could this be the year?... Ya know?... Once Kristaps gets back from injury (again).

The Memphis Grizzlies have won 4 of their last 5 games…. Rapidly climbing the standings.  Their last game against the Minnesota Timberwolves was a big 114-103 win! They got 28 points from Ja Morant, 24 from Desmond Bane, and 21 from SF Dillon Brooks… a full assault on the offensive end.  The odd statline in the game belongs to Grizzlies Center Steven Adams, who had to play defense on Rudy Gobert AND Karl-Anthony Towns depending who dropped into the paint, he had Only 3 points with 9 rebounds and 3 assists… 1 steal and 1 block later… and he did just Ok enough to help.  This lack of Steven Adams offense is exactly why the team needs Jaren Jackson Jr either back or replaced.  A big time big man would make the Grizzlies the Cream of the Western Conference… Instead they have to watch as the Utah Jazz buzz past them in the standings.

The Washington Wizards beat the Dallas Mavericks in their last game 113-105… They are on a 2-game winning streak.  The Wizards are currently 666.  6 wins, 6 losses, and 6th place.  They are suffering from an injury absence of Kristaps Porzingis.  As they suffer they have won two games… which may or should highlight Krisdtaps lack of contributing to wins regardless of what he contributes to the statline.  When Kristaps hit the injury list… the Wizards were 2-games UNDER .500… since they have hit .500.  Someone on the team needs to sit down with Kristaps and the Head Coach Wes Unseld Jr and review how to find a happy medium between stats and productive play.  Some guys DO NOT KNOW what that is… like Russelll Westbrook or Antony Davis.  It is not about what you can do on the floor… but what is MOST needed from you to get wins.  In Kristaps case it would have to be rebounds, blocked shots…. AND THEN some offense.

Memphis Grizzlies VS Washington Wizards Prediction

Our prediction for Sunday, November 13th is….  Grizzlies 118 - Wizards 102

Bet on the Grizzlies.  Bet it big.  The Wizards are better than they have been but they can’t stop the offensive onslaught of the Grizzlies with a hobbled or not playing Kristaps Porzingis.

NBA Betting Trends

Memphis is 30-20 ATS versus Washington since 1996.
Memphis is 3-2 ATS versus Washington over the last 3 seasons.

Players To Watch

Grizzlies:  SF Dillon Brooks. Dillon, of Oregon Ducks legend, lost his starting SG position to Desmond bane.  It has led to Dillon being possibly the best 6th man in the league when the Grizzlies are entirely healthy.  At this moment he is toiling at the Small Forward position which allows him to shoot with real freedom.

Wizards: SG Corey Kispert.  While Bradley Beal is working through health issues Corey has filled in.  Yet Corey is probably not an NBA starter any time soon or ever.  Over the last 4 games the kid is only averaging 5.8 pts, 1.8 asts, and 1.8 rbs… REALLY bad in 21 minutes a game.  He needs to be replaced in the active lineup because he is a small cog ruining the BIg machine.

Coaches

Grizzlies: Taylor “You will know my name!” Jenkins
Wizards: Wes “you know my daddy’s name!” Unseld JR (he is also pretty good)
