A Western Conference battle of talented rosters that have gotten different results the last couple of years.  The Memphis Grizzlies are big time Western Conference contenders, but they can still take the occasional big loss like they did last night against the Warriors.  The Minnesota Timberwolves do not know what to do with the talent they have on the roster… It has the T-Wolves mired in 9th place.  What both the Grizzlies and the T-Wolves have in common is real starpower backed by real depth.  Noone has ever been able to make it clear to me why the T-Wolves always stumble… They have so much.  The great betting opportunity here is knowing the Grizzlies are looking to chomp on somebody after a last second loss to the Warriors while the T-Wolves are missing the same amount of heart despite winning last night.

The Memphis Grizzlies have won 6 of their last 10 games, but are on a painful 4-game losing streak.  The streak is so painful because a week ago they were ½ game out of first place… now they are 3 games behind the Denver Nuggets… ouch!  In the last 4 games the Grizzlies have lost a by 1 point to the LeBron and the Lakers and they have lost by 2 points on a last second shot to the Golden State Warriors.  In the 122 - 120 loss to the Warriors the Grizzlies got 29 points and 12 assists from PG Ja Morant who was returning from missing a few games to injury. They also got 20 points from SG Desmond Bane and 19 points from C Brandon Clarke who is filling in for Steven Adams who is injured.  The team really got smacked by the terrible shooting night put in by SF/PF Zaiire Williams.. 1-7 from the field, 0-6 from the 3-point line. Oh, and Zaiire gave up the layup that won the Warriors the game.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have won 6 of their last 10 games. With a 11-102 win over the New Orleans Pelicans which was also a win ATS.  IN the win SG Anthony Edwards spread his wings and cashed in for 37 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. PG D’Angelo Russell chipped in 19 points, Center Rudy Gobert had 17 points with 12 rebounds and 1 blocked shot.  The T-Wolves operate at their best when they are featuring SG Anthony Edwards… If Karl-Anthony Towns was not injured “indefinitely”... This would be the week he would have finally been sent out of town for pieces and picks or picks and pieces… Or just to “give the team” to Edwards.

Memphis Grizzlies Vs Minnesota Timberwolves Prediction

Our prediction for Friday, January 27th is…. Grizzlies 122 - T-Wolves 111

Bet on the Grizzlies.  The Grizzlies will enter this game looking to break a 4-game losing streak AND get the bile taste out of their mouths from the Warriors game.  It will be a long night for the T-wolves… who are pretty good roster wise, but not very good as teammates playing together.

NBA Betting Trends

Memphis is 7-1 ATS on Friday Nights this season.
Memphis is 1-5 ATS after a loss by 6 points or more this season.
The T-Wolves are 7-3 ATS as a home underdog this season.

Players To Watch

Grizz:  PG Ja Morant.  Ja is electric and you can’t ignore him at any time.  Ja will be trying to beat the demons out of his team with pure athleticism and he will get his way.

T-Wolves: SG Anthony Edwards.  A former #1 pick in the draft and a real star in this league.  He will be rough around the edges until the T-Wolves get the courage to make him the #1 option all the time.  The entire rest of the roster should be built to complement him.  Playing off of PG D’Angelo Russell is a big part of the winning problem… D’Angelo thinks the are equals,, and they are not… D'Angelo is childhood friends with KAT… and KAT should already be gone.  This disparity causes serious unrest.

COACH

Grizz: Taylor Jenkins
T-Wolves: Chris Finch… no one has ever heard of either of these guys.
